I think I have arrived upon my own personal draft list so I thought it would be a good idea to post it and people can add theirs. Obviously it gives people a chance in five years to look at this and laugh at our collective drafting abilities.
This is my wish as well, and it's the only reason I'm trying to put together my personal top-50 and reveal it somewhere on this board soon. That's something very interesting to look back on, even one year from now. I don't think I've watched this much junior hockey in the last 8 years and tried to evaluate draft eligible players' skills and potential. I'm so pumped for this year's draft.

I hope to see a lot of participants in this exercise.

I know it’s bad, but this is the Flyers.
As they’ve fans have said they don’t do rebuilds, Ristolainen talked about how they see this as one down year, NHL insiders keep saying Tortorella means Flyers won’t rebuild, they want back up quick.
Just too much talk of them doing something crazy this summer(Kadri, Gaudreau).

That’s great news for Columbus fans

& I do wonder how it will affect their drafting.
Will they be patient enough to take a 2-3 year development project or do they want a more NHL ready prospect

They've got roughly 5M for 5 players with 3 RFA forwards to sign. I don't think it'd be a shock if they packaged draft picks with roster material so they can improve the current roster

I'm also inviting everyone to post draft lists, but for a more specific reason. Several team boards have been voting pick by pick to get a draft order. It occurred to me that if we got enough draft lists posted here that we could use ranked choice voting to merge them into a CBJ board list.

This is just intended to get a combined list of about 15 names, so a list of just 15 names from each could suffice, although a list of 20 or longer will preserve your choice between two players you don't like as much. For instance, I'd have Lambert and Korchinski in the 20s, but the board might end up choosing between them for pick 15.

I'll be keeping track of lists here in the next couple weeks in case we get enough posted to make it worthwhile.

I don’t know if this might be better as a separate thread (mods…do your thing)

I think I have arrived upon my own personal draft list so I thought it would be a good idea to post it and people can add theirs. Obviously it gives people a chance in five years to look at this and laugh at our collective drafting abilities.

Please post your preferences for #6oa, #12oa, #45oa and anybody you think is a gem in the later rounds.

#6:
Logan Cooley is my top pick followed by
Wright/Nemec/Jiricek/Savoie in that order. I keep flip flopping over the order of the 2 dmen so I am forcing myself to commit. If they have all gone I take Slafkovsky.

#12:
I like Marco Kasper the most here but I think he will go between 8 and 10. I am intrigued by Lian Bichsel so I put him slightly above the great skaters of Lambert/Mateychuk. I like Gauthier at this point but know most I consider him higher than this. Yurov is a possibility but is a tier below these others.

2nd round:
The obvious danger here is that these guys could all be gone by this stage but here goes. Nathan Gaucher and Liam Ohgren are the top guys for me here because I like the blend of skill and strength. I don’t expect him to fall past Arizona or Buffalo late in the first but Ivan Mironischenko is definitely worth a gamble here. After that I look Tristan Luneau as a safe pick for a big third pair d and Jagger Firkus for the energy. I like Ryan Chesley here and I would go for Lane Hutson as a go for the fences pick. Rounding out my list I have David Goyette/Owen Beck/Alexander Perevalov/Filip Mesar in that order.

Hidden gems (in no particular order):
Jordan Dumais (could easily get taken in the second round- I would consider him there if everyone on the draft board above had gone)
Tyler Duke
Ilya Kvochko
Gavin Hayes
Evan Konyen (someone is going to look like a genius in five years after drafting this guy in the fourth round)
Noah Warren (a guy built like this is a risk if he is a pylon on ice but if you can develop him…)
Kocha Delic
Tyler Muszelik (a terrible year for goalies but, if we really want one for the pipeline, he might be worth a try)
Miguel Tourigny (Pronman loves this guy but I can’t find anything about him)
Reid Schaeffer
Kirill Dolzhenkov

I'll also post short lists for 6, 12, and 45 before the draft. But as I wrote above, I could also use your list of the top 15 or 20 for the voting project.

Regarding the players you mentioned - in the second round, I believe that Ohgren and Chesley are probably taken closer to mid-first. Firkus might too but he's small enough that I can imagine him slipping, and that would be a home run if he makes it to our second rounder. Still I'd say very unlikely he makes it that far. There's very high upside there. That's the trouble with projecting the second round, it's too hard to know who will be there.

Cooley is also my top pick by the way. I always thought of him as a sure bet but I wasn't thinking he was a super high upside guy, and then Chris Peters changed my view on that. I went back and watched more video on Cooley and I think he's going to be great. He was also above a point per game vs NCAA D-1, which puts him in potentially elite company.

FYI - I do mocks instead of lists. I try to factor in team need. So it is not a true ranking based on talent or what the Jackets would need. Maybe I’ll do a top 12 for the Jackets if that helps.

BTW, I saw a mock today where Buffalo picked Bichsel and I lost my mind. After picking Dahlin, Power, and Ryan Johnson in the first round and Mattias Samuelsson with the first pick of the second over the last few years, someone actually thinks Buffalo will draft a left D in the first round this year??? I mean two top overall left D plus two other high pick left D, and you think they will draft a left D? I am pretty high on Bichsel, but this is idiotic.

I could still use a top 12 list if you feel inclined to make one.

Bichsel to the Sabres isn't quite as crazy to me, they played Dahlin on the right side next to Samuelson for much of this year and he looked good there.

I like Chris posters Peters insight too. Was interesting to hear he and Pronman discuss on the last athletic pod.

Funny that the more I listen to pods on the draft, the more I hear how do many players could go in the first round. May not speak to the high end concerns of the draft but, to me, it seems to speak to the better depth of good nhl talent potential.

I could post a list of probably 10ish and then its just scouting reports and at best a couple highlight videos honestly. Some good prospects I know next to nothing about so would get underrated like Lekkerimaki for example. The names im interested in is Jiricek, Nazar, Gauthier, Mintyukov and Kaspar

It's totally fine if your intel on a prospect is from scouting reports and highlight videos. Most years, that's all I do, I just got carried away this year. I'm hoping to see mostly lists with 15+ names on them though, if you can get that many.

This idea is so good it feels inevitable! What a great excuse to build a spreadsheet! And I can insert quick notes so when I go back to it in 2027 and wonder "what was I thinking?!" I will at least have a clue!

Here is my current top 16 wishlist for the Jackets. With the caveat that I only want one right D with picks 6 and 12. I really don’t want to draft a wing other than Slafkovsky if he is there. I’d be willing to trade back to get gain something and still be able to pick up Gaucher if we get a right D at 6.

1 Wright
2 Cooley
3 Jiricek
4 Gauthier
5 Slafkovsky
6 Nemec
7 Savoie
8 Chesley
9 Mintyukov
10 Kasper
11 Bichsel
12 Gaucher
13 Mateychuk
14 Goyette
15 Geekie
16 Pickering

I do groupings/tiers not rankings. And I figure my groupings are based on who could potentially be available at our picks. And I can’t go beyond the first round so this year 6 and 12.

If Jarmo is sold on Cooley or maybe Slaf, I’m good with a trade up. My hope would be for Cooley.

At 6 - figure we get one of Jiricek, Gauthier or Nemec. I’m ok to varying degrees with all three, in that order. I suppose the pick could be Savoie and I can be ok with that too.

At 12 - Kasper or Mintyukov are my top hopes here, with Lambert, Miro and Nazar wild cards.

I can't give you a list Major, I read this forum to get your list. The only player in the pool that I've seen live is Slaf and he was very impressive to me in the Olympics. Like Double-Shift Lasse I'd be fine with a trade up or drafting one of Jiricek, Gauthier, or Nemec. I'd also be fine taking a gamble at 12 on one of the Russians, using it as trade bait, or taking a D-man (my guess is they like Korchinksi).

I will add that I don't want Savoie or any other little W/C or Defensemen. Give me some guys with size. We've got enough soft wingers and little D-men.

Also @majormajor is there a deadline for your compiled list? Obviously before the 7th but jw if there's a certain day you're finalizing it.

I'll give it time. My plan is to check in on the last Sunday before the draft (Sunday July 3rd). I'll gather up all the recent lists posted in this thread and put them in an excel table with the ranked choice voting formula (and hopefully I won't have to make a custom formula from scratch).
