I'm so bummed that we didn't actually get Edmonds. I've been watching that guy since the beginning of the year and think that he will be good even though he's older.

Have to wait but uninspiring draft, didn’t help there wasn’t much by the time they had their first pick. Wasn’t a fan of passing on Trikozov, Sykora or Hutson. But you knew they wouldn’t draft Trikozov or Hutson.

None of the goalies seemed that great. So I’m ok with passing on them, seeing what they have in their young group and trying again next season. Kings need a blue chip goalie prospect but there wasn’t one in this draft.

Typical Kings draft in the Blake era. Drafted defensemen with upside, and forwards that are total projects, can play two way hockey and no goalie. Not that this draft was loaded with goaltending prospects. I’d love to know what Ranford thinks of the guys he has to work with aside from Quick.

Looks like a happy marriage

The bar was set much higher at the 2021 draft of Owen Power. At the moment of calling his name., a middle aged male hugged a young female and totally copped a feel. Got some sweater meat. Will try to find the video.

found it!

and looking right at the camera. lol

Breaking news: fans underwhelmed by results of an underwhelming draft class.

The Kings have five goaltenders under contract: Quick, Petersen, Villalta, Hrenak, Ingham, and two additional prospects in Parik and Markkanen.

They will most likely be inviting a few unsigned goalie prospects to development camp as well. Do any of the experts here know if the goalie prospects that were available in the later rounds are any better than what’s already in the pipeline?

The broadcast kept talking about how weak the quality of goaltending prospects were in this draft, so I don’t know what to say.

Well, Blake painted himself into the goaltending situation. I was a Petersen believer too, but not at 5 million AAV for 3 years. There needs to be a huge bounce back by Cal or this is going to be Blake's worst contract decision to date. Time to start trading a prospect or two for a young goaltender or find a good reclamation project to rehabilitate.

Like most folks said, this draft was filled with depth, but not a ton of needle movers and goalie prospects were not there. We got our 1st round pick with Fiala, the rest are prospects, with our history, the Defenceman will turn out great, the forwards we bill bottom sixers.

Fiala trade = A

rest of the draft = C

Wasn't Wright ranked first overall by most scouts? I'm confused how he dropped to 4.
Slovakia had a really impressive tournament so that explains #1 and #2. #3 I think was just specifically targeted by Arizona who had no plan for Wright to be available, though that doesn't explain why they didn't grab Wright.

Shane Wright got the Phil Kessel treatment, though we’ll have to see how his career will pan out. Kessel was projected to be a top 3 pick who dropped to 5, and he turned out to be the goal scoring leader from his draft class with 399 goals, and second in points with 956 (only behind Backstrom, who went right before him). Erik Johnson, Jordan Staal, and Jonathan Toews went 1-2-3 that year.

I think its possible Wright told them not to draft him... but the occam razor explanation is Arizona is dumb
