WJC: 2022 Czech Republic Roster talk

Pinkas yes, Hamara no? I don't know, I don't understand.

So tradition, again, nonsense only in a broader nomination. The attack is just as weak, he couldn't miss any of the supports there, but it's clear that this won't be enough at all.

Yeah looking at this roster now, I don’t have too many expectations. Probably 3rd place and QF exit. Still excited to watch though and hope I’m wrong.

Pleasantly surprised to see all the 03-born forwards on the roster, especially Chmelar.

Omitting Machu and Hamara is not surprising unfortunately, we are talking about a Czech team after all. Why take defensemen who make mistakes when trying to make plays happen when you can take talentless goons who won't even try to pull said plays.

And Malik can go kick rocks, bs excuse, just like Barinka last year. Never liked him though, so who cares, Bednar and Malek are better anyway.

So we play Malik 2 in a row... He finally doesnt suck and he quits on us?

As mentioned above... Same with Barinka.

What concerns me is these are deep Czech roots. Them along with Zacha says something about our federation imo.

I won't miss Malik though. I didn't miss Barinka either.

I was hoping for Hamara.

I agree with above again.. 3rd in group... Quarterfinal exit. We got lucky in that the Germans will be much weaker with them missing 3 superstars at this level.

I don't know much about pinkas but I'm guessing because he plays for litmorice and they want it to look good?

I've seen Pinkas play in almost every tournament since he started playing after covid and he always made huge coats.

What happened with Zacha? (Just wondering if this is about WJC or a more recent thing).

Back in the day... His father was very outspoken about us. Went on big twitter rants. Wrote some articles.

Since then.. Zacha has declined most the invites (if not all of them) for national team.

Now he's finally become a good NHL player but I'm not certain he gets selected at all.

That'll be funny as him and dad can say they werent invited and look like victims.

Coats?

I know you use translate.. I think it picked the wrong word here. I've actually been trying to think what Czech word translates into coats... Coverage?

The only thing that still works in Czech hockey is the education of goalkeepers. So Malik is not a loss that would affect the team's chances of a better results than the end of QF.

I would not be a tragedy thath both Barinka and Malik refused to play at the WJC. Both are in career phase where they need to play senior hockey regularly and being out of the club for a month can hurt them quite significantly. And they are not Wallstedt or Michkov caliber players.

Atlhough this refusal sheds a bad light on the federation , not all things are bad in Czech hockey. Although yes, for example , the catchment area project makes a lot of sense. This model works on the same principle in Sweden, so Rasmus Dahlin was able to play for Lidköping until he was 15 and only then moved to Frölunda.

These are positive things , but there are despetately few of them. Hockey has losr the trust of its parents and it will recover very hard and very slowly. There is a congres and new elections in the summer. Is someone like Hnilicka wins the election, I think it will be the last nail in the coffin of Czech hockey and the final end.

Read the Mlejnek interivew...

You know what really bugs me????

This is our best possible team. We have no injuries. No guys not allowed to join due to NHL commitments. This is the absolute best we have.

You could argue that Malik is a loss but he was sub .900 for us 2 tourneys in a row, went undrafted, tanked in North America. I don't think it is the big a difference between him and the 3 we have coming. I felt Parik was much better than him last year as well. However, as stated above, this isn't the difference between prime Hasek and Marek Schwarz (no offence).

Hamara is not that upsetting.. I wanted him there but he'll be there next year. I like our D and think it is very good.. at best he was third pair as I assume Jiricek will be playing a lot of minutes along with Svozil. Krutil is out first 2 games and hasn't played much but is a quality defender and big. It should be a very nice Top 4 and I still haven't mentiioned Spacek or Moravec.

He did mention Sale and another guy tearing up U20 and it just sounds like that isn't a league they care about too much. It's a shame. I'd kill for a strong U20 league.

Looking forward to seeing Jiricek play again. I suppose his chances for the Czech Olympic team are quite minimal? Too young and inexperienced?

I would make him number 7 if NHLers cannot go. I don't think he is the 7th best D in Europe but I think it'd be a good move. I also hope he is at the world's ... Most our NHL d should be playoff bound.. Boston, Rangers, Florida, Tampa and wings. Not expecting much NHL d help at all.
