He's basically Quinn Hughes...is that the sentiment?

Hughes is a smoother skater. Nevertheless, imagine in 2 to 3 years this uber talented kid feeding Caufield, Mailloux and Suzuki on the power play. I hope I live long enough to see that.

Based on what we have in our system, in a few years:

Pp1: caufield, suzuki, slafkovsky, hutson, dach
Pp2: Farrell, Beck, Mailloux, Roy, Mesar

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Someone has to be the net front presence. I feel like Dach is more a bumper guy and Slaf more of a bumper or better halfwall guy. So Slaf may be best leading 2nd unit...

Though we've seen Dach screen the goalie for a 5 on 5 CC goal already. He has the size. Would be interesting if his role on the pp became gaining the zone with his puck skills, then stand in front of the net, and then make plays with his linemates as needed...

Dach
Caufield Slaf Suzuki
Hutson

Roy/Heineman
Farrell Beck Mesar
Mailloux

Official?

There is nothing official about a statement from a journalist making a fluff piece about a player.

He spoke to Lane.
That is not evidence......that is just as likely a 5'8.25" player calling himself 5'9". There is also no mention of Lane even saying that as there are no quotations, I suspect the interviewer was just listing the BU official height and Lane mentioned that he had gained 5 lbs.

Either way you can not refer to this as a new official height.

He is still way too small to play in the NHL and will need to put on considerable muscle. There was a scout quoted later in the article who doesn't think Lane will make it as a dman due to a combination of his size and his back skating not being very good.

I think the kid has brains and balls for days and wouldn't count him out of anything but he has alot of work and growth ahead of him to get there.

I hear you. I’d Be more than happy to watch the first game with you where Hutson makes his debut with the Habs. Beers on me.
@ChesterNimitz is definitely someone I'd sit and have a beer with, while discussing hockey. He's probably forgotten more about the game, then the majority of us will ever know.

I started watching in the 70's. So getting to tell stories to the younger generation is fun for me. I can't imagine how interesting it would be to hear stories from 20 years before that.

Lane said he grew half an inche, that makes him 5’9.

Plus the kid is 18 years old, he has plenty of time in his development to develop his skating abilities before getting to the NHL. Pretty early to try and say he won’t make it, no?

Short people lie about their height every time they open their mouth.....there is no reason to believe him if he even said that. Players are responsible for listing their own height/weight from here on out. The draft combine is the only time you will ever have a neutral party listing a players height/weight without the player/agents input. He can say whatever he wants from here on out, we can see that he is still tiny so who cares what he says.

The scout who said that he likely won't make it as a D is 100% correct if Lane doesn't pack on significant muscle and drastically improve his back skating.

So, just to be clear, I was happy with the pick as a late second and am still happy with it. The kid has some truly special talents and I think he will find a way to get to the NHL one way or another. If he does actually grow 2 or 3 inches that would be huge but there is no reason to believe that is likely despite the privately procured doctor report who could very well be a quack and going against peer consensus.

I don't remember seeing a Habs prospect that can skate like that! Impressive fluidity and illusiveness.

I went to my first NHL game in the mid 1950s. So I don’t have too many more re-builds left in me.
I guess that's you in the picture then?

Don’t really know why you seems a little worked up over him saying he actually grown half an inche, but ok i guess he’s lying :dunno:

You really think he won’t improve his skating and won’t grow physically in his 2-3 years in college?

I never said that I didn't think he will improve his skating....just the nonsense of the pending growth spurt that other posters are spreading is annoying as anti-vaxers and free dumb convoy supporters. So much nowadays is tied to what people want to believe rather than what is actually true.

I am on team Lane......just being realistic
