Amerks 1/5 on the PP.

Comets yet to get a PP. Where's the game management refs? 5-0 PP calls makes it look like you certainly favored the home team and gave them every chance to win the game.

Here comes a call for the Comets. PP for Utica. They are not real good on the PP, but this is a chance.

Pinho hits the side of the net from below the dot on a beautiful centering pass. Comets only way into the zone was a dump in. Comets battled for 10 seconds and a shot form the point steered aside and sent down the ice.

STEVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
G________________________o____________________________A___________________________________L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carried it in alone from the edlineline, made a move, got a clean shot, and scored.

AS I type, Clakre puts an Amerk defender down and S------C ----O------R-----E-------S.

Can you believe it. 2 goals in 23 seconds and both with a guy pulling a toe drag and sniping it as soon as they got open.

Clarke had already missed the net on 2 previous great chances. He hit this one!!!!!!

3-2 Comets.

Rochester doing their typical best to draw a penalty with post whistles BS. Hope the Comets are not dumb enough to take the bait. They did create a 4 on 4 with that one. Nemec off for roughing. Have to believe that one was have to take 1 each so there is no PP.

TV TO
5:25 to go

That's equivalent to eternity isn't it.

Back to 5 on 5.

Houser holds a Nemec shot. 3:24 to go. Seems like an hour since it was 5:25 to go.

Comets call time out. H-m-m-m-m-m.

Houser gone and Thompson immediately puts it into the open net.

4-2 Comets.

That's one way to get a goal TYCE.
Amerks net still empty. Daws goes for the net. His shot makes it all the way down, but slides wide of the post. LOL

Gambardella all alone from his own blue line and makes no mistake from a few feet.

5-2 Comets. Now the Comets take a cheap shot, but Dineen has Mason on the ice and that ends that.

1:05 to go.

COMETS
W--------------------I---------------------------N

What a strange game!

Comets first back to back wins on the season and they crawl above .500>>>> 8-7-3-1

Final score:
Utica Comets 5 Rochester Americans 2

SOG:
Comets - 6 5 9 = 20
Amerks - 8 13 7 = 28

PP:
Comets 1/1
Amerks 1/5

Scoring:
1.) Nemec (3) from Pinho (7)
Pinho pulled the draw back and Nemec shot from the blue line to the net and Houser, unobstructed, waved at it.

2.) Stevens (4) from Nemec (6) and Walsh (9) - PPG #15
Stevens gained control near the center ice dot, walked down the middle from the blueline, turned in, dipped a shoulder, stopped dead, the d-man went by him, and he sniped the top right corner.

3.) Clarke (5) from Gambardella (3) and Groleau (1)
Clarke came off the left wing boards, arced up to the blueline and deked past the defender there, walked down the slot, toe dragged past the D-man's stick checking air, and sniped the top right corner.

Both goals high right side over the catching glove of Houser.

4.) Thompson (4) from Nemec (7) - ENG #3
Thompson got a pass out of the zone from Nemec and got to the redline under pressure. With the man all over him he still had the puck on his stick and he sent it into the empty net from just over the red line.

5.) Gambardella (2) from Schmelzer (10) and Clarke (6) - ENG #4
Cambardella took a pass at his own blue line from Schmelzer going down on a check. Joe went the length of the ice looking behind himself twice and scored from a few feet.

3 Stars of the game:

#1 Simon Nemec (Utica Comets) 1G/2A
#2 Brandon Biro (Rochester Americans) 2A
#3 Graeme Clarke (Utica Comets) 1G (GWG)/1A

I'm giving Nolan Stevens a big consolation Star for his brilliant effort to tie the game. That was the kind of stuff we haven't seen from this guy.

I'm giving another one to Nico Daws. He only made 26 saves but the majority of them were from 10 bell chances. Without him the game would have been out of hand by the 3rd period. The Comets were skating in mud for both of those periods. Nico was the only guy on top of his game.

Hutchison off to the box for high sticking.

PK #51 minute gona nd the Comets have not toiuched the puck. :28 to go and the puck is out of play. The Comets still haven't touched the puck on this kill.

Win the draw and clear it down.

They killed it. # on 1 for the Amerks 2 cross ice passes and it's in.

2-1 Amerks.

I'm betting that's game.

I'm sure he had no chance on it.

I'm sure it was either the fault of the crappy AHL defense, or the dude that scored on him was an elite AHL sniper, or Kevin Dineen's system or his goalie coach back in New Jersey not giving him a pregame facetime prep talk.

Or his mouth/tongue injury that's caused him to have a very noticeable speech impediment this year that wasn't there in years past. Maybe that's bothering him.

I mean, I'm not sure if that's a bad goal. I definitely like to look for more replays and some context on a goal like that. Maybe for a possible deflection? And there's no real replays with AHL video, but he played that like Jonathan Quick or one of these unorthodox guys.

I can't really tell if he went down like he was shot after the puck already went into the net or if that was an attempt at trying to save it or what.

Not sure if a bad goal, but it looks like he didn't look very good on it and may have played very weirdly.

Almost looks like Jonathan Quick the last few years. You can't really tell when he allows a bad goal or not a lot of the times, because his style of play gives him no chance on A LOT of his goals against and he makes them look like he has no chance on them due to his play style. But because he flops and goes and slips and slides all the time, I'm sure there's plenty of goals that don't appear stoppable, but really are saves on most other goalies.

That's kind of what Blackwood looked like on that one

But it's very hard to decipher on just one 6 second clip, with one view, no replays and no other angles.

To be completely fair, the shooter didn't have the puck on his stick for very long before unloading it after taking the pass, so that's why I'm not sure if it was a bad goal or not. Can't tell where it beat him, but it looks like he played it very poorly.

DAMN SON!

3-1 NOW!

HOLY SCHEISSE

8 shots, 3 goals.

Yup, I'm sure he's gonna bounce back. Yup, it's harder to play in the AHL. Sure it is. He knows ALLLLLLLLLL about that, as he never really played well there after his first year in that league.

Here's the second one

DEFINITELY A BAD GOAL on him, no further replay or context needed.

Looked like it leaked through him and was a routine shot. Definitely no chance of a deflection, other than a poltergeist.

Third goal was on a 5 on 3. It might have been deflected by a guy in front of the net, but it's certainly a bad goal if not. But I think it was deflected in front.

Goalie on the other end is Kevin Poulin

Now there's a name from the past

The one time Islanders goalie of the future

He's gotta be well into his 30's by now
