Not your fault, I shouldn't have said he has a marginal impact on winning. More like the Sharks are so bad that the difference between keeping and trading Karlsson will have a marginal impact on our lottery odds so I don't think that should be the motivation behind trading him. We'll be a very different team without EK but how much less successful can a team really be than 4-14-4 after the Meier trade?
@Hodge admitting his communication was bad, the Leafs about to win a playoff series, and hell is about to freeze over...

The 4 seasons prior to this year he played in 56 or fewer games, so this year was somewhat of an outlier. I personally disagree that his value is going to go up further in his age 33-36 seasons while staying healthy then now when he just played 82 games and scored 101 points.

If his value is a late round pick, then yes it will go up. You really dont think he could return more after next season, with 3 years left, vs the year before this season, which would be 5 years left? Not even 2 years? contract year? deadline rental? Really?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Korpisalo replace Reimer. Give Kaapo a friend who is also terrible a 1 year deal since they both seem to be bottoming out and just tank harder next year.

No one can convince me that he doesn't have a burner account to get his pretentiousness out of his system and now is just using the Hodge account as his "main"
I understand, brother Levie. I would have the same suspicions if I were you. Maybe one day you will be convinced that the old Hodge, a pompous fool whose insecurities prevented him from ever admitting he was wrong about anything, has been clubbed to death, crushed by a trash compactor then dumped in a landfill. Metaphorically speaking, of course. But I understand that won't be today.

You are a legend dude! I actually liked your hot takes before, even though I understand that it wasn't that popular among everybody. Glad you are back!

Korpisalo is a very good platoon goalie. No idea where you’re getting this idea he’s terrible. He wasn’t great for CBJ this season but his underlying numbers were.

You'd admit you were wrong before, but you'd do it in a very confrontational manner.

Folks, I am actually wondering if this is the real Hodge?

He's staying on mute for now

But its like that Bobs Burger episode where Bob was at a burger forum meetup and only found out then that everybody hated him because of the way he posted was way meaner than his intent

I see no reason to do this nor do I see why Jonas would want to come here knowing he’d be a lame duck goalie.

Because he isn't good and I don't see him getting the long term offer that he wants. I'll be shocked if Korpisalo doesn't end up like Klingberg last year.

I don't understand why some people want us to significantly improve this offseason. Sure, losing is not fun, but if we try to improve before getting a younger future core drafted or acquired some other way, we'll be set up to become a middle-of-the pack team getting eliminated in the first round or just missing the playoffs every year.

Even if we are super lucky and get Bedard, there's still tons of other holes to fill, in every single position.
To quote Herm Edward's "You play to win the game "

You follow the progression of the core. If, by some chance, the young core takes major meaningful steps (big enough steps where they are winning games because of their play), you definitely don't pull the plug on the season. If the individuals significantly improve, it will be hard to stop the team from significantly improving too

What are people's thoughts on offer sheeting Lafreniére? up to 4.2m is only a 2nd.

a deal around 3.5aav really puts the squeeze on the Rangers, who have to pay Miller (priority IMO) and fill holes from Tarasenko and Kane.

I don't think he's a world beater but for a 2nd it could be worth injecting more age-relative youth into the core.

I can see the argument for it, but would Grier really do that to his buddies over there in Manhattan?

I wouldn't even offer that bust league minimum.

I'd risk a 2nd on Laf

I wouldn't offer sheet him at that price, but I'd certainly mention it in negotiating a trade for him.

I can't see any way they would entertain letting him go, but it's a no brainer for this Sharks franchise if he was made available. It's all well and good saying this kid has underperformed expectations, but that Rangers offense is a-typical to put it mildly. Never be a better time to 'buy'.

I'd absolutely have interest in trading for him if we don't luck out with Bedard or Fantilli.

As mentioned, Grier probably wouldn't ruin his relationship with Rangers FO by doing that. Maybe a trade could happen, but the Rangers will probably let some of their pending FAs walk/trade overpaid depth before they trade one of the youngsters.

Less of a screw the Rangers thing as much as he probably doesn't want to pay a large sum for a guy that is basically Kevin Labanc.
