Not really. But he’ll be given every chance to due to his size and skating. Whereas it wouldn’t surprise me if a guy like Tristen Robins never stepped foot on NHL ice.

I firmly believe that Coe was able to score so much in the OHL purely because of his size. He really could just shrug guys off him and go to the net.
Wait, he went to the net? Can he show some of the other forwards how to do that

Sharks forwards are not allowed to cross the blue line into the offensive zone until the opposing team says they're ready. It's in the official NHL rules.
Only team to mandatorily dump the puck in the O zone on a 2 on 1 fast break..

Yeah basically this on Coe. I think he doesn’t make the NHL because of the exact reasons you said. I think most of his scoring is due to him being stronger and bigger than everyone else whereas with Robins he has much more of an IQ game. He will have no where near the impact but Robins reminds me of Pavelski a bit in his game. I think he ultimately ends up a winger but I could see Robins being good as a 3C or a middle 6 winger in the NHL. Coe on the other hand just kind of feasted on an opportunity. From what I saw of Coe (granted limited) he didn’t have the effort level and was much more of a floater but he knew how to turn it on. I think Coe is going to be the stereotypical not good enough offensively to be in the top 6, not enough effort to make up for that lack of offense to be in the top 6, not a well rounded enough game to be in the bottom 6.

Yeah, I think most of our 2020 prospect looked good because of that time in our organization. They are good prospects, but they are not over the top great prospects. It hurts that we didn't have a top 15 pick in 2020 draft.

From the prospect pipeline of 2020 Bordeleau has the biggest chance to make it. Robins, Coe, Wiesblatt and Raska have to really make great leaps to make it to significant roles, because even if we are not a Stanley Cup Contender we have competition for spots with now Eklund and Bordeleau knocking on the door. I was pretty high on Robins and Coe for a long time, but I don't know where they would fit if we are trying to build a playoff roster in the future. This year training camp will be interesting, we'll see what happens. AHL is going to be fun this year, it's going to be the first time I'll try to follow as much as the big club.

If they ask for a 2nd round pick from Vegas, it won't be until 2024. They may make a move with the Islanders for Varlamov which would open a goaltending spot there but I don't think they'd want to spend a 2nd on a backup for Sorokin.

If a late round pick is going to be a top-half-of-the-lineup player, he has to destroy the lower leagues. Look at Kevin Labanc; he was lighting up the OHL as an 18-year-old (and shattered the league as a 19-year-old). The next year he was a ppg in the AHL (on a bad team) and even showed that he could produce in NHL minutes.
I don't think that's always the case. You just have to produce well enough. This is not an exhaustive list by any means but similar top 6ish players who produced like Robins/Gush/Coe in their D+2: Boone Jenner, Charlie Coyle, Brad Marchand, Jamie Benn, Ryan Hartman, Phil Danault, and Mangiapane (although his is only similar to Coe's).
Seth Jarvis recently scored only 27 points in 24 games in his D+1 year in the WHL, and just had a breakout year.

The point is, it isn't just about point watching, it's about how they play and develop. It's a guessing game for sure, but there's nothing that Coe/Gushchin/Robins/Bordeleau have done except produce like the best (or in Bords case, 3rd, 4th best?) players on their teams. That's good enough to not write them off from NHL careers just because Labanc has nosedived after scoring at high rates.

Baracuda are getting a slick new jersey by the looks of it.

I don't know if I'm just hyped about the juniors, but I feel like Bordeleau will have a bigger impact than Eklund this year with the big club. Eklund will probably become overall better player over the years, but I feel like Bordeleau will have a better start than Eklund point wise. I just hope they start building chemistry this year for both of them by giving them chances to succeed, even if it's not a playoff year.

I think with both those guys you’re gonna have point producing machines. Both seem like excellent setup men who do the hard work to retrieve and hold possession of pucks with their agility, then make slick passes for guys like Meier and Reedy, Hertl etc

I do want to see both start the season with the Cuda. If they can't dominate with the Cuda then they weren't ready anyways. If they dominate then they have shown they deserve a top 9 roster spot.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the WJC but being good at faceoffs is one of the "little things" in hockey that can get a player's foot in the door at the NHL level.

I think it's all about the pre-season success if they start at opening night, which is in Czechia and I will be there to hopefully witness their play. We will see.

With how Bords played last year and how well of a tourney he's having, I think the staff is gonna give him an opening night spot and see how it goes. Ride that confidence.

He got a few assists at the end of last season but actually watching the game he did not look good (which is expected coming in not knowing the system). He was never where he needed to be and looked lost and out of position most shifts. Yes he showed some good puck and passing skills but he did not look like he was ready actually watching him play at the end of the season.

That seemed to be my takeaway as well. I really think that getting him on what should be a very good Cuda team would be good for his development. Play him in all situations with big minutes and good AHL linemates and let him grow that way as a pro. He's still a slighter build of player that could probably stand to get used to the rigors of the pro game down there. If Sommer was still the HC, I'd be begging to get him to the NHL ASAP, but I think McCarthy should be a nice change of pace for that group this year.

I think that was everyones take, other than we loved the confidence.
