I always want to pile on in posts like this because proper deployment has always been the big knock on Todd but I can think of about 20 other fanbases who feel the same way. The fact is that, especially in this case, it's just so hard to tell what's going on behind the scenes.
If it's only about contracts, stature, and bro deal promises then f*** Todd but I suspect there are many layers and factors we just aren't privy to.
It was the game. Did shit on the 5 minute pp and lost.
His next shot did, went right over a prone Zabinajad body and went wide.Surprised DD hit Zabinajad - normally that shot goes wide
Expectations are high for Byfield right now bcuz despite the Kings badly needing a top 4 LD, better overall goaltending and better experience, they are competitive enough to have a shot at winning the Pacific division and be a top contending team in the West, but obviously not quite on the level of the Avs(when healthy). If the Kings were a bottom 5 team, then we would be encouraging Byfield to just keep developing into top form. He needs to get bigger in the off-season and also develop to produce offense on a regular basis. I still feel he was rushed up too quickly. I believe an NHL draft pick can't be eligible to play in the AHL until age 20(his age now). If Byfield cooked a bit next season starting in the AHL, I think it would do him a lot of good. Dominate at the AHL level(with the Ontario Reign smartly protecting him with some players keep the AHL thugs away from him) and be called up with some good confidence to compete with NHL'ers.Man, if all the forwards were held to the standards you guys want for Byfield right now we wouldn't be able to ice a team.
I'd be all for an Iafallo-Byfield-Vilardi 3rd line based on what they did earlier this year but then Kempe and Kopitar go right back to getting blown up nightly, mark my words. Its not a random accident those guys are suddenly on hot streaks.
I cannot imagine the mindset it takes to scapegoat the 20 year old after watching literally everyone else tonight as well.
Absolutely. Forget Chychrun(all the Coyotes are doing is f***ing around trying to get the absolute best deal, when they should be thinking to build around him and Vejmelka) and focus on some other possible d-men. I would go after Nick Jensen, even though he's a RD. Oilers want him, so the Kings should be offering up better return bcuz they can do so. Acquire Jensen and ship out another RD to teams that need a younger player. I might add, Nick Jensen is a better skating d-man in his own end than Doughty right now!Blake needs to pull the trigger on a deal tomorrow
For $11 million per year, can Doughty be given a shooting instructor because I don't think I have ever seen an NHL player make so much money and be so horrible at shooting the puck! His next shot did, went right over a prone Zabinajad body and went wide.
Looks like Quick wasn't the only one giving up a bad goal, but Copely had more clown music. Falls down twice then goes for a swim.Lmao Copley what the f***. What an idiot.

Loss is on me. I wore my unlucky Kings beanie I got for Christmas from my girlfriend. Seems like if I even touch it on a game day they lose. It's reversible, so maybe I'll wear it the other way for a game before burning it.
I swear its an odd/even season thing. Last year his shot was good, this year 1 out of 10 hits the net.
You only taking a small portion of the clip and trying to change the narrative/give equal blame to Copper. First of all, Panarin tripped Copley from behind the net and no obvious call(as a goalie myself, that really pissed me off but I have seen the Rangers get away with that crap b4 @ MSG in games against my Caps). Copley then made a good recovery to get his whole body over to deny Panarin, who was going top corner near-post. By then a Kings player should have come over to help Copley out, but I have no idea what Kings player was doing. Panarin gets his rebound and puts it top corner again and this time scores bcuz Copley had lost his balance(from lunging his body to his right-post) and tried to make a desperation old school scissors kick save. 2 wrongs don't make a right(missed call Panarin tripping Copley behind the net and the Kings player almost doing nothing to help his goalie out). That whole sequence really pissed me off bcuz the Kings had the momentum I think getting the game to 3-2 at that point. Refs game management changed the complexion of the game.Looks like Quick wasn't the only one giving up a bad goal, but Copely had more clown music. Falls down twice then goes for a swim. That one hurt more than Quicks.
Then maybe Doughty needs corrective surgery on his wrist? Maybe his wrist didn't heal correctly or he's still having some discomfort and is trying to overcompensate for it?You don't have to touch your girlfriend on game day but I don't think you need to burn her yet either!
His shot has been erratic for a long time but I'd also add last year's wrist surgery into the mix, his shooting percentage is rockbottom right now
— Pause me if you’ve heard this one before: Quinton Byfield had an excellent game – and wasn’t rewarded with a point.
It’s not a central concern, because the line as a whole has been producing, and Byfield’s ability to protect the puck, keep plays alive and dynamically distribute it across the offensive zone – to say nothing of his backchecking and mature play without the puck – has created and exploited holes in defensive zone coverage.
On Sunday, the first line set a tone early with buzzy shifts across dangerous attacking areas; less than five minutes in, Byfield had already driven to the net to nearly convert a Kopitar feed and hit Adrian Kempe for a Grade-A look in Shesterkin’s close quarters. With Los Angeles trailing 3-1 early in the third, the first line again set a tone early with cycles and a low-to-high play in which Byfield passed through the slot unencumbered by Ben Harpur and got his stick on a well-placed Matt Roy point shot that Shesterkin fought off for one of his better saves of the night.

“There’s a balance between moral victories and the other side of it, and Q’s got a lot of confidence right now,” McLellan said. “He’s worked hard to earn that, he’s worked hard for his position on that line, and that line has actually scored a fair amount. Unfortunately for Q, it’s not coming off his tape. We can stand here and be really down about that, or we can say, you know what? The three of them are most nights producing at a real high level, and we have to be happy with that,’ down the road, as the year goes on and as the years go on, his centermen probably won’t be there anymore, and then Juice’ll be getting a little bit older, that’s Kempe, and he’s going to need to produce. But right now he’s doing some good things. I think he has opportunities.”
McLellan acknowledged that Byfield still needs to work on his shot but expressed his support behind a noticeable step forward that the 20-year-old hasn’t yet converted into stone cold offense. In 32 games, Byfield has two goals, 12 points and a plus-three rating.
As for the shot and chance-based statistics, Kopitar, Kempe and Byfield have lifted each other. The shot and attempt metrics depict a group playing much better together than apart, and Byfield’s +7 5×5 GF-GA with Kopitar and +8 with Kempe against top competition supports this. But this gets murkier with high-danger chances and expected goals, categories in which Byfield does not grade as well in the formula used by Natural Stat Trick. Beyond the numbers, there’s also a responsibility that belies his age, with back checks, stick-lifts and defensive awareness clearly parts of his developing NHL repertoire.
Recent TV captures have shown Kopitar encouraging his young winger on the bench and coaching him on the ice, and the instruction is being heeded.
“He’s doing a lot of stuff right and a lot of really good things. It’s just getting passed by on the scoresheet,” Kopitar said. “But it’ll come. He realized it. I think for the most part me and Adrian are in his ear to keep on going. We’ll coach him and … guide him through that. It’ll come for him, too.”

You don't have to touch your girlfriend on game day but I don't think you need to burn her yet either!
For years it has been a platitude about how great it is for these kids to learn from a vet like Kopitar, but now that it is actually happening some folks want to take the kid off his line.![]()
Doughty responds to spitting incident, reportedly now settled; another good Byfield game without reward: “It’ll come for him” says Kopitar

Since I know you speak multiple languages before English (and I dabble in a few myself) as far as inanimate objects go: only boats and occasionally cars are feminine in englishWhy would he burn her when he explicitly stated she was reversible?
(Talking about the beanie, naturally – noun, feminine.)
I dunno. I'd rather people think I'm intentionally, recklessly, or even maliciously gross than being a racist. When I first saw it I thought it was accidental...wasnt like he was heated or there was any confrontation. Attributing it to malice on his part is almost as bad as attributing it to racism from the rags fans perspective.
Awesome. Who are we trading for?The Kings have no choice but to pull a trade tomorrow
