Weird, I might have watched a different game, I didn't think the Kings played all that well, they had spurts, absolutely.....but on a 60 minute game, spurts won't win it, their passing was a off, their shooting was way off, they played a good goaltender, that's for sure, Copley was off the entire night.....1st goal his angle was atrocious.....2nd goal....stay on your feet maybe, I dunno....

Entire game felt....sideways.
Agree...the game was meh. I will say the Kings didn't seem to get any bounces and the fact that they barely had a power play the entire game didn't help their chance when it's been so good lately. Overall, don't think the Kings played bad...MIN played well.

How about Byfield though...can he just do something, anything, that makes you go 'ahh, so that's why he was #2 overall pick.'

He did....last night.....that stutter step backhand, then move to the forehand....yea, it didn't work out, but just having the balls to try it....was absolutely a treat to watch.....he's done that a few times in the past few weeks...he will be 100% fine...

On another note Boldy did almost the same type of move, but shot off the backhand, that was a beaut as well...

That's exactly what I'm talking about...he has these moments where it appears something great is going to happen and then there's this hesitation and it all goes to shit. I know his confidence will come, but these constant teases of what he might be are getting frustrating to watch.

The Kings played really well, they seem cursed in that building lately.

However, if Edler sees any ice in the playoffs it's 100% on Blake. Even if the higher end options don't work out, just trade a draft pick to someone to get a competent LD on an expiring contract that can play 15 minutes and not be a total liability. We are in big trouble if we draw Edmonton and Edler is playing, him vs McDavid would be like having a defensive tackle covering Tyreek Hill.

We already saw this movie once and it was a bloodbath on a GOOD day, doing it again is just...I hate repeating myself you know?

Tight playoff style games have a habit of accentuating your issues and Edler/Walker is the biggest one, Lizotte at 3C is also a problem, and Copley just gets exposed as his around-average self that will get blown up in the playoffs when we can't just outscore our own self-inflicted obvious problems.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a GM enter a season with the same clear-as-day issues as the previous season and just flat out REFUSE to address them in any meaningful way.

AV misses high and wide , goes all the way around to Hartman. Copley with another weak goal against . They blew so many chances in the 2nd.
But that’s nothing knew 28, that’s why I’ve always been for moving him. The guy is a low IQ player. Look at his shooting percentage and you’d think he’s doing alright but glance at his total shots and then ask yourself, where are those shots going?? To your point, they go wide and all the way around the boards and off to the races the other way. That’s one of the reasons the Kings stuck on the ice with tired players… along with their inability to clear the puck in pressure situations and of course their lack of killer instincts. This team absolutely loves to give away leads

Again for the umpteenth time, the STATS DO NOT BORE THIS OUT.....no matter how you feel about it.

They sure f***en do, look at his shooting charts and compare it to the game and that’s literally what happens . What f***en games are you watching?

You didn't really see what I was referring did you, I literally BOLDED the part...that I was referring to, try again.

The 3rd pairing is the Blake Bargain Bin pairing. He thought he signed Walker and Edler to bargain deals, so make sure you play them! The glaring issue with Copley is that he is not going to steal you games and that's going to matter in the playoffs. Lizotte is a good story as a college FA signing, but he doesn't increase the ceiling of the team, his presence on the 3rd line lowers it.

I don’t see Lizotte being a piece that needs moved off the roster, he just needs moved down the roster.

It’s not his fault that Kupari,Byfield, Vilardi, JAD and Co. have failed to surpass him on the depth chart at center.

The kid is 100% of what a 4th line center should be, and he is paid appropriately to do so.

Yea Lizotte should be on the 4th line. He almost always wins his matchup vs other 4th line centers.
Id love to see Kupari or Byfield centering Fiala and Iafallo.
Lizotte had a good couple games vs Anaheim and Arizona there but dont forget the month before because it took him that long to even string together 2 outstanding performances in that role.
So if you wanna see Kupari and Byfield between Fiala and Iafallo for a month and a half that would be cool. They just dont get those type of chances yet.

The problem is, Kupari isn’t exactly crushing his minutes as a 4th line guy, so it’s hard to say “let’s bump down Lizzo, who has been a great puck hound for some of Fiala’s best hockey of the season, in favor of trying something new with Kupari who has been pretty meh”.

I do agree that at some point, you’ve gotta throw the kids a bone & play them with some skilled guys, but nothing about Kupari’s game lately has been noteworthy.

Try Byfield back at center with Vilardi and Fiala, Move Kalyiev up to Byfields spot on the first line, and have Lizzo center the 4th? I mean, maybe.

On the Wild feed they mentioned multiple times that Edler was lacking mobility and looking like a weakness for LA. You know it's bad when the opposing team's broadcast is noticing it.

My takeaway from the game: Kings got average goaltending, and the Wild got good goaltending. So it didn't matter that the Kings outplayed them. Goaltending canceled it out.

They weren't wrong about that, but my god that Wild feed was just absolute mind numbingly bad......they literally said, LA hasn't allowed a PP goal in the past 5 games...and in the next breath mentioned how they were struggling on the PK....

So just keeping score -- we can't complain about TM, nor the Kings play or anything like that. No critical discussion about them is allowed on this fan board. But QB is on the table for complaints/criticism. OK SMH ?!?!?

In '21-22 Kaliyev had only 1/3 of his points on PP.
In 22-23 it is 1/2.
Given his minimal 5on5 TOI and his lack of elite linemates I think his production is remarkable.
Plus the one time he was on the ice with 11 & 9 this game because of a partial line change they almost scored.
He has produced at every level he has played.
His misuse by this franchise is absolutely maddening.
He has 10 goals this year -- 8 on the pp.

Which is exactly my worry re: Copley and the playoffs.

"good enough" is for the regular season. "good enough" isn't vs. a great team for 7 games.
