Yes the Kings are a playoff team, just not a contender. Blake's not going to over pay this season. Look to him doing his offseason magic getting value for assets which he will be forced to move and fill much needed holes.

The Kings played really well, they seem cursed in that building lately.

However, if Edler sees any ice in the playoffs it's 100% on Blake. Even if the higher end options don't work out, just trade a draft pick to someone to get a competent LD on an expiring contract that can play 15 minutes and not be a total liability. We are in big trouble if we draw Edmonton and Edler is playing, him vs McDavid would be like having a defensive tackle covering Tyreek Hill.

They didn't get shutout and are still +2, so there's that. I swear i didn't notice the 4th line once.
Lizzo was bad tonight and needs to be off the 3rd line center. He got owned so bad to start the second, and it got worse. So what does Todd do, starts that line in the 3rd and loses the draw again.

At least Kopi came to play! And a few others but man this is not going to get it done! If Blake thinks this is a play-off team that will go far into the play-off provided they sneak in...well think again! In my mind I'd rid the Kings of 4-6 players in the lineup and bring in the youngsters and others that have been waiting in the Wings whether injured or not!

What's your ideal lineup?

4 more years after this one unless he's dealt to a contender with his blessing of course
7 team trade list next year.

Solid game. Kept up with the speed. Maybe don't send the Lizotte line out to start periods?

Wild sat on a 1 goal lead. Can you imagine King's trying that. At least they were fighting & didn't get run out of the building. 1 shot 75% through 3rd while trailing isn't ideal.

Off to the next one.

Edit: Doughty is causing Shaq free throw flashbacks

I missed the game. Did Byfield get injured?

It was not one of his better games. He was not sharp handling the puck and one time going to the net, he spun and could have made a good backhand attempt and turned again and made nothing of it. He's working hard and skating hard, but was not making things happen like he has been...so Todd mixed up the lines in the 3rd and moved Gabe up, Kaliyev up (once or twice) moved Byfield and Moore down.

it took until 8 min left to get there 1st shot, and it was a weak wrister from the point. Most of the rest came within the final 3 min. Doughty, oh boy, he can't hit the net if he was 3 feet in front of it. bit of a turnover machine tonight too. not his best game.

Didn't get the result, but at least they played good defense and had a lot of chances trying to win the game and broke through to spoil the shutout. Edler and Walker on the team is almost treasonous at this point given how many prospects we have that can at minimum do their job or better regardless of the trade deadline. Onto the next game...

Dude, he only scores on the PP.
In '21-22 Kaliyev had only 1/3 of his points on PP.
In 22-23 it is 1/2.
Given his minimal 5on5 TOI and his lack of elite linemates I think his production is remarkable.
Plus the one time he was on the ice with 11 & 9 this game because of a partial line change they almost scored.
He has produced at every level he has played.
His misuse by this franchise is absolutely maddening.

This made me laugh.

Weird, I might have watched a different game, I didn't think the Kings played all that well, they had spurts, absolutely.....but on a 60 minute game, spurts won't win it, their passing was a off, their shooting was way off, they played a good goaltender, that's for sure, Copley was off the entire night.....1st goal his angle was atrocious.....2nd goal....stay on your feet maybe, I dunno....

Entire game felt....sideways.
