At least they get to go into the break ashamed and with the problems still being the problems

Franchise is at a major crossroads. They're barely hanging onto the last wild card spot by points percentage and the teams immediately behind them have up to five games in hand.

THey can flush this season down the toilet with league-worst goaltending, Durzi on the wrong side and PK, and a mess of forward configurations...orrrr Blake and TM can do something.

Currently on pace for less points than last year and missing the playoffs. Tick tock.
They may be a little steamed right now but overall going into the break they have climbed out of the goaltending sink hole and not fallen back in too deep despite 3 and a half forwards out.
Getting those big 3 back after the break, should keep them in the playoff battle.
Having Copley maintain form and even better JQ get a little back, would be another boost.

Iafallo has been terrible for 2 weeks...is he playing with an injury?
0 goals, 1 assist last 8 and -9 23 shots and 0 goals
missed an empty net, too.
he had that putrid 20 game streak last year, too.

Line 2 has been dead, without Moore and having AI on it.
Need Moore and Vilardi back, badly.
Kaliyev, too.

Why is AI on PP2? It would be Gabe or Kaliyev, but Arvidsson is way superior to AI.
Not that Arvy is on fire, but he has chemistry with Danault and has tons of primary asssits
and certainly better than AI....especially since he's been horrible 2 weeks.
Iafallo is not injured this is who he is. He's a decent third or fourth liner that can kill penalties but has always been placed in a place he doesn't belong. Todd is already getting him ready to move up to Kopi's line soon. LOL. I know JAD had a nice assist tonight but he has no business being on that top PP unit as well. Defense and goalies that's really what it comes down to with this team. Love Copley and what he's been able to do. Holding this team together for now but he's not the answer. Will Blake give up a few players and a first for Thatcher Demko, we shall see.

No way! He is in the hole with goal tending already. He is not betting on a double hipapelegic!

That first goal in the third was just a bad rebound that should have been an easy deflection to the corner
It was the wrong save decision by Copley. Instead of executing a full butterfly, he should have executed a reverse VH and a stick sweep to the direct the shot to the side(Quick has been known to execute properly on that type of shot for years). Basically, he butterflied the shot but didn't put himself in position to have a chance at stopping a rebound. I'm sure goalie coach Ranford will address that with Copley at the next practice.

Make no mistake, Copley having a record of 15-3-1 since being called up from the Reign, is no fluke. His goaltending style fits better than what Quick/Petersen has shown this season. Just a small knock on Copley though. He was never drafted and there was a reason for that. His rebound control and mental decisions were questionable at times. In his rookie year with the Caps, he was giving up a lot of rebounds and not utilizing his big frame enough. Seeing him now, he has worked hard to get better in those regards. The one thing I still see from him, he has random mental lapses where he gets a bit casual on some plays.

With all this said, Copley didn't lose this game. Simply, in the 3rd the Kings stopped playing the way they got to the 4-1 lead to begin with. The Canes are a relentless motor team. They come at you hard no matter what the score is. Being at home you knew they were going to have a major push back in the 3rd. Give some credit to the Canes because they have come back like this against other teams. At the same time, the Kings were self inflicting their own wounds by sitting somewhat back and allowing the Canes to be so relentless. To me the Canes as a team scares me more than the Bruins. Canes are very well a Cup winning favorite depending on how healthy and the play of Fredrick Andersen.

No goalie is worth a 1st round pick, especially in this coming 2023 draft. For Demko, who will be coming off a major injury and won't probably be ready till next season, I would say a 2nd rounder, Petersen ++ would be fair for him. The thing is would the Canucks really want to trade him to a division rival?

Post it here... thats pathetic.. all fan forums rag on the coaches and GMs - thats basically 50% of all posts
Called Todd a dumb b**** and I got slapped with “ethnic/racial/gender slurs” violation. My track record here is like comparing Kopi and roughing penalties lol

Copley and his below-average goaltending have bought these guys time while what's a very very good team on paper circles the drain.
But we’re tied for first!! - our idiot play by play guy

Team played great today, huh? Care to elaborate how giving up a three goal lead is the team playing well?

Team played fine, unlike you, I can recognize when the OTHER team played great as well......you seem to think that when the Kings win, it's the other teams fault, and when the Kings lose, it's their fault....

They played with and dominated at stretches one of the BEST teams in the league, you'd be a FOOL to think that could happen the ENTIRE GAME.....but...I guess that says it all doesn't it?

Par for the course in this thread,

All year long: Kings suck we need this, we need that....coach is a moron, we will neve win....

When the Kings lose: OMG how could they lose?

You guys say they are shit all year long, then act surprised as hell when they lose, it would be flat out amusing if it wasn't so pathetic....

And it's never....damn, the other team played a good game, it's always, Durzi, or Tmac, or Edler, or half a dozen other scape goats.....I mean Jesus Christ, last night was a GOOD game to watch and enjoy, and half of you can't even recognize that given the posts in here.

The Kings are NOT a contender and I want my money back. We should be better than 1st in the division, fire TM now.

JAD may not be a dangler or a shooter but he potted 12 goals and 13 assists on the PP last year down in Ontario. Him and Spence were $$$ with shots coming from the point and then deflected in by him.

Wonder what that Spence Kid is doing these days?

This another thing that simply makes you shake your head- we arent playing the best possible defensemen we can. We are giving Edler a legacy pass, playing Durzi who was never a defensive stalwart on his offside and Walker who was undrafted out of college and never had a season where he finished with a +.
We can only speculate what the record may have been with Spence/Bjornfot as a pairing as well as wonder why Tmac changes the lineup after a W- to see the team lose and then repeat the same lineup and get the same losing results.

It's coming-up on the 6th anniversary of Blake getting the GM job, and the construction of the roster is a mess. The Kings are sitting on so many young and fringe wings, and right shot defeseman that's it's ridiculous. Meanwhile, he allowed the goaltending position and pipeline to become the worst in the NHL, and the Kings are icing exactly one LD who should be taking nightly shifts in the NHL. All the excuses of "what do you want him to do, overpay?' are just that, excuses. It's almost 6 years, this is his roster

Disagree- while there have been some swings and misses the forwards on the team are the best weve had in a long long time. Hes made some great moves and some great signings and hit some homeruns in the draft.

That said- peterson contract was brutal and the decision to play Durzi on his offside and not play Bjornfot and/or get a legit LHD is a baffling development that has not been addressed. Certainly deserves criticism there.

Glad I was tired and napped through the third period, I guess.

What jersey # were you? Can I have an autograph?

By and large Blake's actions have been great!

By and large, Blake's inactions are currently sinking us.

I think thats 100% accurate and the same can be said for Tmacs coaching. His initial game plan and lineups are solid enough to win games- his in game lack of action is what results in Regulation Losses that should have and easily could have been at least an OTL.

man what a deflating game, went into watching it thinking if LA gets a point out of Carolina before a 10 day break that is a win. However losing a game where you are up 4-1 in the third is crazy. Two of the final goals Copley should have had, and TM just sits on his time out when the team clearly needed a break in momentum after it became 4-3.
Byfield sure had a fire under his ass after his badly timed penalty, his next shift it looked like he was shot out of a rocket trying to get the goal back. Wonder when he will start getting OT time?
Carolina is such a good team that made LA look very far behind them for the first and third periods.

I agree that sometimes the other team plays well however the issues we have were both foreseen and fixable. The fixing isn’t automatically easy because trades need other teams but you need to concede, surely, that some decisions are puzzling. It makes frustration understandable even if you don’t agree.

So sitting Björnfot is a head scratcher as he’s been pretty good. Especially because they could have say Walker instead of Edler (instead of sitting him B2B) and we’d be no worse for it.

I’m ok with missing this year and them not filling the holes we have until the summer. The key for me is the younger guys playing bigger roles as we go down the stretch, as Byfield now is. It’s why I want Lemieux and Walker waived/sat, to create spots for younger guys who I don’t think will do any worse anyway.

I don’t think Durzi is the answer but at least (as a result of sitting Walker) by playing him bottom pairing RD, it puts in a position to be his best self. Lemieux sitting the being waived means they can keep Turcotte playing until guys come back. They’d then also find it easier to have JAD retain a lineup spot that he’s definitely earned.

I think they have a foot in each of the development and playoff camps, in terms of which is priority. They really need to make a call soon. It’s not about being buyers of sellers at the TDL as such, but more a case of how to shape the roster and who to waive as players come back from injury. Big decisions are looming IMO.
