When LA's Lombardi was giving away draft choices didn't GM Blake entice Cal Petersen to come to LA from (Notre Dame) Buffalo the team that drafted him 4 years hence. They could do the same with another prospect drafted 4 years ago by...Buffalo again his name is Erik Portillo! He's playing at Michigan and won't sign and be a 2nd,3rd fiddle so...
I'm just saying there isn't anything there right now.

Maybe we ain't on the same page but I'm talking about the 4-2 goal. He doesn't have to kick at it because it's right at the top of his pad. He just lets it hit him instead of a simple redirect which you get taught when you're learning to play goalie
I would like to introduce you to Pheonix, positioning and letting the puck hit him is the style he plays.
The team and everyone in hockey understands.
The D from the Skaters must be there.
Also, Gotta close that 5 hole first before you can direct the rebound.
I understand what you are saying but this could have been 7.5 goals against with one other guy and up to ten with the other, other guy.

Kings just choked in the third. Stopped doing what they did in the second.

I really want this team to get healthy. 3 key pieces out and still treading water with a crazy goalie situation too.

It's hard to believe that their system believes in sitting back on a lead and just defending.

Yeah Todd said they sat back too much in the 3rd. Really Todd? It;'s your job not to have them do that when up 4-1, push the play and don't just chip the puck in and fall back. They did that the entire 3rd.

Copley giving up 5 when he should've given up 3 just means he's less awful than Quick and Cal, not that he's good. While you're right about the skaters needing to be in position for a rebound (on that play, Lizzo can't get turned outgoing to the net and Mikey is floating in front looking for his guy to pick up), that doesn't mean Copley can't redirect the puck. That shot wasn't moving so fast that he couldn't have redirected it while ignoring his 5-hole.

It's that kind of thing that prevents him from being a true starter level goalie, his processing is too slow alot of the time. He had time to rotate his stick towards the shot for a redirect, but couldn't. On Aho's near OT wraparound goal, he takes too long to get over and recognize that Aho's speed is taking him across the ice, and he probably should've scored the winner on that

same could be said with the gwg. he was really slow going from side to side.

Todd really loves to not take blame when his own coaching is the issue.

I wouldn't equate that one with the other plays tbh. He actually read that play well, Burns just made a very good one touch pass across that didn't give Copley time to reset for his push back across. That's beating most goalies

I got a warning for basically calling Todd a dumbass on our own boards from some random staffer! Lmao get off your high horse
The way it works is that some Todd fanatic reported you on our boards and a staffer dealt with the reporting.

We screamed about this for 10 years and they had to hire power play wizard Jim Hiller to say “Have you tried putting your best players in positions to succeed?”
I seriously think that people think that being in the hockey brass is rocket science. It’s not difficult to see how bad a lot of these people can be in these positions. Todd isn’t smart for example. There isn’t some 5D chess move that he’s concocted in his mind. There’s nothing going on in that moronic pandas mind other than trying to find the next piece of bamboo to chew on.

Its never good enough for some of these guys, they are from the Russian hockey goaltender hall of fame.
Sounds like they should be mad at Blake about Goaltenders 1a n1b choking and not the 1C guy who saved the season and finally lost a shootout or OT.

Watching Quick for a decade+ made us spoiled regarding that kind of save. For healthy Quick until the last year or two, that's a near-routine save even with the one touch pass across because his athleticism and lower body strength.

I really hope they've had Cal speaking with a sports psychologist. He has what it takes to be a good goalie but his mental game is beyond awful and has tanked his career.

Iafallo has been terrible for 2 weeks...is he playing with an injury?
0 goals, 1 assist last 8 and -9 23 shots and 0 goals
missed an empty net, too.
he had that putrid 20 game streak last year, too.

Line 2 has been dead, without Moore and having AI on it.
Need Moore and Vilardi back, badly.
Kaliyev, too.

Why is AI on PP2? It would be Gabe or Kaliyev, but Arvidsson is way superior to AI.
Not that Arvy is on fire, but he has chemistry with Danault and has tons of primary asssits
and certainly better than AI....especially since he's been horrible 2 weeks.

The Kings need some type of move(s), but I am not sure I want Blake being the person to make the move.
Don't worry, I am sure Kelly Cheeseman will be prompted by your post to tell Blake to do something.
Rest assured he will text you before he "lets" Blake do anything, however.

Thats it! You are writing the movie screen play adaptation!

They gave Brent Burns of all people all the ice in the world to score a goal. That's not playing well. They turned it around, but they weren't at the time I made that comment. But I'm sure you're going to say it was actually a highly skilled play and there just wasn't anything the Kings could do and in fact it was actually a great play by the Kings and the goal was just bad luck.

It was a give and go for f*** sake....yea, Burns went around the world twice with the puck on a string......Jesus Christ talk about bad f***ing takes....

At least they get to go into the break ashamed and with the problems still being the problems

Franchise is at a major crossroads. They're barely hanging onto the last wild card spot by points percentage and the teams immediately behind them have up to five games in hand.

THey can flush this season down the toilet with league-worst goaltending, Durzi on the wrong side and PK, and a mess of forward configurations...orrrr Blake and TM can do something.

Currently on pace for less points than last year and missing the playoffs. Tick tock.

Copley and his below-average goaltending have bought these guys time while what's a very very good team on paper circles the drain.
