Doughty played 28:18 last night.

This is coaching malpractice.

There's seriously an argument to be made that the Kings are better without Doughty in the lineup.
Re 2nd point: add scrambling the bottom 4 (when u couldve left Bjornfot/Roy alone), and putting Durzi in the 2nd pair. You make a needed change in the d-pairs after a big meeting, and then immediately blow that up after a solid game.

Nice that they just went back to the definition of insanity a couple of days after a HUGE ORGANIZATIONAL DAY OFF TO MEET AND DISCUSS THE STATE OF AFFAIRS

The problems are still the problems AND Tm appears to have doubled down on them, with 28 minutes to Doughy, 24 to Durzi on his wrong side again, over 20 to Kopitar, kaliyev with the 8th icetime amongst forwards on the PP...like what ws that meeting even about now?

It makes it look even MORE than ever now that Cal became the lightning rod for all the organizations' problems and then they just went surfing the next day. f*** these guys.

I expected a loss but I expected them to change course...not go right back to the well and wear pouty faces while getting shitcanned.

At this point I'm absolutely rooting for an 0-6 road trip, no more bullshit wins vs. teams like Arizona to make them feel better about underachieving like crazy.

christ it's like this team circled the Oilers game on the calendar and prepared all year for that and only that

Why do these guys stop skating and just follow their man behind them?

That's what happens when there's no accountability for vets. How often is Kempe going to be allowed to dog it with a soft turnover or bad penalty compounded by a non-backcheck? Why would he when Arvidsson can literally get picked from behind with all day on an empty net and the org's response is "we feel bad for him so we're going to play him more next game?"

WOW THAT WAS f***ING HARD WASN'T IT TODD

jesus christ man

I don't know about you but I sure LIKE to do the stuff that makes my job easy

These guys seem to have an organizational mandate to assf*** themselves in any way possible

Thanks for the pointer. So I think that Alex gets it half right (FA-gee-mo) and Patrick gets it completely wrong (fa-GEE-mo).

The Kings public facing team doesn't bother to pronounce the names of their own players correctly.

I mean, who's going to hold them accountable?

If someone dares to ask them at a presser they'll probably cancel the next media availability.

Todd also played Durzi 24 minutes last night.

That's nuts.

It's so obvious what Druzi is. A PP specialist who should have targeted/sheltered minutes at ES.

He's being mismanaged.

I agree... I was relieved to see Durzi in the 3rd pair v AZ - as if they recognized his limitations.. and then right back in the 2nd pair the next game with 24 min. From my experience d-pairs are way more important to keep consistent than forwards. I dont like to see this constant scrambling esp after making a statement and an adjustment.

Thought it was a decent game against a solid team. Good to see Fagemo get his first goal. Game wasn't out of reach until that bounce of Drews skate into the net. Arty is feeling his grove on the PP.

With all the bad stuff going on there are bright spots. We finally have a good core of wingers. Arty and Gabe are rounding into good offensive threats and Fiala is a great sparkplug. Last year we begged for an rookie or young player to show a pulse at the forward ranks and patience is starting to pay off.

Blake missed the boat in the off season on defence. Yes I wanted a sexy signing like Chychrun but after spending the budget on Fiala he could have brought in a good stay at home, physical left dman even if it was a bottom pairing guy. We lack size back there.

I am not a Durzi fan in the way I was never a Karlsson fan. I still think defence wins games. A porous defence leads to porous goaltending and we don't have the studs in net to let our defence gamble or miss assignments. Durzi is a wonderful offensive threat but we just don't have a strong enough team to let him cough up pucks steady. I do find it funny that he is what Arty was suppose to be. a one way player that can score but not defend. Arty has figured out, maybe Durzi can too.

The thing that really blows my mind is we have 107 quality right shot guys. We have pure offence in guys like Durzi, Spence and Clarke and pure defence in guys like Roy yet Doughty needs to play 30 minutes a game. How is this happening. I would think the obvious thing to believe is the coach doesn't trust certain guys in certain situations but I see him putting Durzi out in a close game and on his wrong side so I have no idea what to think anymore.

I think Iafallo coming back will help balance out the forward lines but for the defence we are in a world of hurt. A trade needs to happen and thats on Blake, who I still like but am starting to grow impatient off.

Who's got that goal replay of Fagemo by the swedish announcer I think during the world junior championships. It was a lady who was doing the play-by-play. I'm guessing she probably pronounced it correctly. It was a great sounding call from what I remember haha.

Faw-geh-moo would probably be pretty close to the correct way to say it. Emphasize the "Faw", a really short "geh", then "moo", not "moe".

Here's a video of Swedish fans chanting his name after winning the SHL. The pronunciation is like BigBrown suggested above.

You can tell who really follows the Kings by if the call Kopi Anzee or Aunzhay... after all these years most out of town and national crews still say Anzee
I wish TM would follow the team then. He still doesn’t know how to pronounce Kaliyev’s name, says “Kilayiv”. The good news is he’s up on “Onsay’s” line now, so I’m sure coach will learn his name soon enough.

Haha this is definitive since they are Swedes.. never wouldve guessed it ends in moooo - maybe the fans can yell moooo when he has the puck going fwd

What is the argument that the Kings would be better without Doughty in the lineup? Would it be having the best CF Rel among Kings blueliners? or would it be having the best GF Rel among Kings defensemen? or would it be having the most points from the backend?

I swear this board has become almost unbearable with the amount of hate that Kopitar, Doughty and Quick get and almost none of it has any f***ing merit. It has honestly become tiresome to come here when the only thing you read is people shitting on them.

Above all, don't ask the (foreign) player himself how his name should be pronounced. They're mostly young self-conscious kids who believe that it's polite to mispronounce their own name to make it supposedly easier to pronounce for American/Canadian fans. (Chára being the most glaring example.)

He wasn't saying it because he thinks Doughty's bad.

He was saying it because of how the vets continue to be overplayed.

So, do you think we would be better off not having our best defenseman?
I think the Kings would be better off not overplaying Doughty.

I don't think the Kings would be better off without him. But I understand the point via exaggeration.

There is a case to be made that they are/were better without Doughty. No one played like someone was coming to rescue them, and the guy who was coming to rescue them didn't play like a burnout since no one was playing 30 min a game.

It was addition by subtraction but that was because due to Doughty's injury, TM got Art-Howe'd and had to play everyone.

makes one wonder what he would do if Kopitar were hurt/gone.

I don't agree with it overall but I get the sentiment.

And yet those same people insist that we would have beat EDM last year if Doughty wasn’t injured.

In part, it's the Ewing theory: » The Ewing Theory

What would this Kings team look like without Doughty, Kopitar, and Quick? Who would have stepped up?

Fiala - Danault - Vilardi
Iafallo - Byfield - Kaliyev
Moore - Kupari - Arvidsson
JAD - Lizotte - Grundstrom

Anderson - Spence
Bjornfot - Durzi
Edler - Roy

Petersen
Copley

What holes could we have filled with an extra $27 million?

Yup. It’s obvious that Todd is not the coach to take the Kings to the next level. I truly want the Kings to go 0-6 on this trip just so we can see some real changes implemented into the line up.

You want the Kings to lose?!

Nobody is shocked…

It may be better if he played fewer minutes, but the comment I quoted said the team would be better if he wasn't on the team. I have argued for a long time that Dewey and Kopi have worn too many minutes, but the hate is misguided.

What addition by subtraction are you talking about last season? Dewey had the best CF% on the team last year and had the most points on the team among defensemen despite playing only 39 games. I seriously wish that Kopi, Doughty and Quick were traded just so everybody would stop imagining storylines of them actively sabotaging the team. It kind of sucks.

You're trying really, really hard to pick a fight with two guys who agree with you.
