Kinda stems back to a big problem (for me at least). A young player like Durzi makes a terrible play, he gets scratched. A veteran makes a terrible play (or has a rough stretch of games) and he'll get time to "work through it."

Agreed in principle but when was the last time a vet non goalie made a play that bad that was also completely unforced?

No issue with Durzi being scratched, would not have surprised me if the plan before the Vegas game was to have Clarke play in Durzi's place tonight. Makes the most sense to me as you cannot have Walker come out as I do not think Durzi or Clarke are strong enough to play their off side. I think we will see Durzi and Clarke rotating till Clarke hits 9 games and gets sent back to the CHL.

who would you play Clifford over?
Lemieux.

I am far from a Lemieux fan but I don't do that swap. What about if the lineup was what it was against Vegas (Arvidsson in)
Still go with Clifford. The 4th line should be:
Lemieux/Clifford - Lizotte - Grundstrom

I'm willing to bet there is only one poster on this board that loves fighting and physical play more than I do and even J Utah wasn't making Kings VHS fight tapes and trading them to other degenerates across the country for their home team's fight tape.

Clifford has no place on this roster. I love the guy but let's get real here.

Cliff reminded me of Lappy same loyal dog - middleweight, not the best fighter, but would always stand up for his teammates... thats a good vibe to have on team.. but agree we dont have a spot for him

I vote @mysterman2 . Mysteryman was pretty cool , but mysterman2 is twice as cool

I bet this team makes big advances with Clifford on the 4th line. We need an enforcer.

Including post and pre-season, Lemieux has had 24 fights the last four seasons while Clifford has had 19.

Clifford has a better fight card due to Reaves, Deslaurier and a couple of others but he also loses those fights and, honestly, I don't want to see Clifford fighting Reaves since Clifford couldn't handle him back when he was a good fighter.

They share a lot of the same opponents with Lemieux beating Tom Wilson as opposed to losing to him.

Lemieux also has the biggest punch landed by an LA Kings player in what seems like a decade when he put Manson out of commission.

Clifford will be remembered as the better player and tougher player as well. No arguments. In 2022? Give me Brendan Lemieux.

What's up with him not being in the lineup?

He's exempt from waivers, so everyone else in the lineup besides Clarke would need to be exposed and potentially lost to another team. Spence and Bjornfot would likely be the first callups, but Clarke will get at least 9 games. The problem is, Clarke's only option is the Kings or going back to juniors, where he has essentially nothing left to prove.

Ok. Why wasn't Bjornfot in the lineup?

Dude. Same deal. Can't be taken off of waivers so down they go for now.

Every defenseman on the NHL roster would need to clear waivers except for Clarke. Without trading one or losing them for nothing, Blake kept all of them up and only risked losing Moverare.

Yup. How many times was Edler allowed to get his back blown out by McDavid in the playoffs without any reduction in icetime ? McDavid displayed the entire Kama sutra on Edler with zero punishment.
They blamed that on Spence…
Sitting Durzi serves two purposes;
-It gets Clarke in the lineup and gets him some real experience
-Walker gets to show his ability to play both sides and hopeful gain some trade value

Mayor has Kaliyev on 2nd line tonight:

Play Bjornfot and Spence and send Clarke down to Juniors. Enough with the musical chairs.

1. Clarke would be in juniors all season. No way to call back up until season's end.
2. You could only call one up, unless you wanted to waive and reassign someone else too.

Play Bjornfot Spence and Clarke and get some picks for Walker and maybe Roy to have some cap space and more picks to trade at the deadline for Chychrun or Kane.
