Really was a slugfest and even if it was an ugly boring game it's nice to know they have the D structure in there too.

The 4-5 GPG wasn't going to go on all season, have to remember how to win low scoring games as well.

The Wild really do have just so many dumbass incidents against us, I just don't get it.

Gabe's finish was uncanny as always but what a pass by Kopitar. Probably his finest this year.

Kopitar, after years of playing next to Brown, Iafallo, King, and the like, is remembering what creative hockey looks like.

Goalardi - nice. is that original?

I found two previous uses, so I’m not sure if I picked it up from someone else. To my knowledge, I hadn’t heard it before, but credit where it’s due:

October 2021:

October 2022:

:)

Edit: Oddly, in both of those threads, I’m the very next post. The hell? Lmao

Re King I used to think he was DS's pet to explain why he was on the 1st line - since he grew up on a farm like DS.. but in retrospect it was Kopi that needed a methodical sluggard to work with.

Clarke averaging the least amount of minutes between the defensemen and not playing since November 1 is a travesty.
Doesn’t he need that 10th game to ensure there’s no point in him going back? It may be that they actually are just getting Walker back into game shape so they can move him and this is temporary, but I think they may be hedging with Clarke and seeing some wins without him will tempt them to big brain this and send him down. Which would be maddening.

The 10th game burns a contract year. They can still send him to the OHL if they wanted - it would just burn a year.

So, if they are okay with burning a year, they should just do it. If they aren't, then send him down.

You make a good point about them hedging. But of all players, why is the one who:
- needs the most development (by virtue of being the youngest)
- gives you a better chance to win

is getting benched?

As you said... maddening.

It wasn't pretty, but never hurts to see a win.

But holy shit do they have work to do on the powerplay.

Nice to see Kopitar and Vilardi producing in spite of Kempe... who's back on pace for under 50 points despite getting the third most minutes per game from forwards (behind Kopitar and Danault).

The Danault line getting hemmed in their own zone for 2 minutes was embarrassing.

I like that Lemieux is willing to get engaged when things need to get dirty, but I really wish he was smarter.

Clarke averaging the least amount of minutes between the defensemen and not playing since November 1 is a travesty.

Take heart, eventually Clarke will run out of junior eligibility and waiver options and we will see him get a chance.

Wouldn't mind seeing Kempe on either the Kupari line (since he had pretty good chemistry with Fiala) or the Danault line (who needs a kickstart of his own and they vibed pretty well last year), and either Grundstrom or Moore moved to the Kopitar line.

great win but....

PP1 is brutal and in true TMac fashion he will never deviate.

Kings D did everything possible to give Wild the tying goaL.

ESPN Crew spot on in analysis and Ray Ferraro said it best- Kings have opportunity to be a great team if they move prospects for a front line player upgrade. As long as 50% of the D is Edler, Walker and Durzi cant expect anything more than current place in standings.

You can seriously throw Roy in that group. Kings need to shed these guys and get a LHD and bring up Spence, Clarke, and a top LHD

Totally disagree about Roy. He is a player they need to keep and build around. He is a future leader and letter wearer for the team
Totally disagree about Roy. He is not a player they need to keep nor build around. He is not a future leader and not a letter wearer for the team

But really, the Kings have a serious RD problem. I think Roy is a great third-pairing RD, but with Clarke, Spence, Durzi, etc, something's gotta give at some point. We have a clear need for a LD and a clear surplus of RD, and I expect something to give by the trade deadline this year.

I don't know about the letter wearer part, but he's a keeper. Does everything well, but quietly. He's having a bit of a blip being paired with Durzi, but over the past three plus seasons he has been arguably the Kings' best defensive defenseman. On a defense with a bunch of puck movers, he's absolutely NOT the guy you move right now.

Some of his defensive gaffs have belies that he is a defensive D. He needs to be much more dependable in the role IMO, he’s better than he has shown recently.

I think the Roy conundrum revolves around who else do we have that's gonna play the stay at home D role at a high level? Doughty is aging. Anderson is awesome. Most of the other guys are smallish offensive RHD; until you can replace what he brings on either the 2nd or 3rd pairing, Roy is nigh-irreplaceable (especially with Edler terming out).

You see how much this forum loves Durzi on the PK, what happens with Roy outgoing?

Man, I'm kind of loving the victim blaming on the main boards from the last two incidents with the Kings. Quick is a flopper, so he deserves what he gets! Doughty it a punk and he deserves a chop to the face! Keep the hate flowing.

It really is unreal that the self-proclaimed 'state of hockey' has never seen a star player get roughed up along the boards before and are saying the stick to the face is justified. Always a clown show when we play Minny and I don't get their seething hatred towards the Kings. I remember them victim blaming Walker for taking Dumba's slapper to the face, never mind Fiala on Roy. just total sociopathic behavior.

I also don't understand how they can hate what Doughty is doing and cheer on Dumba's constant shots.

This is what happens when you play Durzi big minutes on his left. It's a handicap. Roy is good, but he's not THAT good.

You can only imagine what it would've been like if the internet as we know it was around in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

Really like him with Vilardi. Not sure Kempe always meshes with that but those two are definitely in sync with where they need to be and where the puck needs to be. You can stick Vilardi with anyone you want and he's going to create. Really fun to watch his growth over the past year. He has now turned into the team's MVP and a great vocal leader. Also love how he says it's not about him, it's about the team/players. This was reminiscent of the Stanley Cup runs where no one would be throwing each other under the bus for any reason.

If JQ did fake it / embellish (which I doubt) more power to him - outwitting that punk with a nice 100k loss of salary and 2 games
