Surprisingly good decision.

Edit:I say good in context, with other suspensions that get handed out. The recklessness of it means I would punish all such offences much more harshly. Lets face it, a fine would not have been surprising.

Edit 2: I’ve changed my mind.. poor decision. Five games minimum.

How many times has Tkachuk been suspended? That has to be the third or fourth time at least. Track record is supposed to go into the amount of missed games. Should have been a minimum of four.

This is his 4th suspension.

Plus there was another time when he was fined for high sticking but not suspended.

So 5 times thus far he's received supplementary discipline.

Having the "Stars" play is essential for these guys. It's all about the money in the end, and nothin we can do about it. The fact that Josh Anderson got 2 games for BOARDING, on the same day that rat f*** got two games for intentionally trying to pock a guys a eye.... tells you how true the first part of my sentence is.

Sign & bring up Doty for the next game.
To be honest, this is the level of petty that I’d really like to see.

Give them boys 5 game suspension worthy offenses, and have the team throw in to cover salary for the duration.

Lemieux got 5 games for biting.

I'm not sure why poking somone's eyeball with a stick should be get less than that, especially when you have 3 priors.
Agreed 100%. It's absolutely disgusting. Both were intentional and after the whistle. The potential for serious injury of one is faaaaaar greater than the other. How is biting a hand worse than going for an eye with a stick? I don't see it at. all. DOPS should be embarrassed.

entertaining game to say the least. I think Florida's goal that was called off should have counted but am glad it did not.
Glad Tkachuk got suspended, but always find it curious when suspensions happen to a road team. Usually that road team is playing other divisional opponents of the team the incident happened to. So really it could hurt the team which were the victim for the player to be suspended. Of course Florida beat Anaheim the next night so does not apply. When the incident happened would have been nice if Doughty would have knocked Tkachuk on his ass instead of look to the ref.

Jon Rosen's coverage is really good and insightful. He's got some really good data that he posts after every game and then provides some context. For example, Kopi's line got their teeth kicked in by Barkov's. At some point TMc adjusted and sent Danault's line to try and nullify them and they had some success. To what should be to nobody's surprise, the Roy/Durzi pairing got obliterated by Barkov's line to the tune of a 15 to 1 shot disadvantage. They're not good together. This is Muzzin and Martinez oil and water pairing all over again.

Are they not good together? Or just not good period?

I suspect it's both.

I suspect it’s both. I think Roy has cratered from how good he used to be. Roy this year has lost his man so much in front of the net that it’s mind blowing. So many of the goals he’s on the ice for he’s standing in front of the crease doing nothing

I was being nice! We all know about Durzi's bad defense and how we can boat anchor his partner. But Roy's performance thus far has been pretty much unprecedentedly bad for him.

In Roy's contract year, he played great. Gave a ton of effort.

As soon as he signed his contract his play fell off.

He' that type of player.

Roy and Durzi are epically bad together. 7 goals for and 11 against in 175 minutes together at even strength. They've been on the ice together for the most goals. 3.77 goals against per 60 minutes.

It's not that they're just bad period. Roy and Clarke are awesome together (4 GF, 0 GA in 8 minutes).

Durzi just sucks at even strength. It's been like this for the entirety of the 77 games he's played. 44% ESGF% in 2021-22, 45% ESGF% in 2022 so far. If they could just play him exclusively on the power play he would be awesome.

Agreed. He’s been disappointing and some of the errors have nothing to do with his partner, even if I’m no Durzi fan.

This is just not correct. He signed contracts in the summer of 2019 and spring of 2021. He was awesome in 2019-20 and 2021-22, when he was not coming up on an extension.

He's exactly NOT that type of player.

He's not the same player he was since signing his 'big' contract in 2021.

To his credit, he had an injury, and there's still stretches where he's a decently solidifying force on the backend. But he's generally a low effort, low intensity guy, who plays below his ability.

He'll probably start trying again next season when he needs a new deal.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been watching him on the ice for his goals where he’s standing there taking no one

I remember thinking when DL/DS determined JMFJ hadnt a clue how to cover guys (and recall DL blasted Berensen at UMich for bad development, which was really an indictment of his scouting)..a lot of us suggested moving him to forward... and really it may not have been a bad idea. JJ now actually plays a very solid brand of D

2021-22, AFTER he signed his contract, was in almost every way his best year. I just don't understand where you're getting this idea at all.
