The usual HF board no-blame on Quick...

he had an easy poke check just sitting there and he tipped it to the BH

fire bill ranford!!! has he ever seen a poke check?
Yea he gave the puck away twice on the first goal when he had his players around.

Quick is part of the problem now. He is not a solution any longer.
He is basically 80 in hockey goalie years so he should be a #2 but since Petersen is so horrible, they are playing him like a #1 and it just won't work.

This team is dead in the water without some help on D and another goalie which won't be easy.

Durzi has to go. The guy is so bad in his own zone and racks up penalties as well. Just not worth what Offense he could bring. Get something of value now before the league figures out how worthless he is on one side of the ice.

The Kings score 1 goal, and people are putting blame on Quick (who's given up 3 goals in his last 2 games).

The way the Kings played last night, is the way they should've played against Dallas. Turn the game into a low-event, grind it out, 50/50 game. Against Chicago, they should've been able to out-skill them. And while LA did carry most of the play, they just couldn't generate high-quality scoring chances, and that's why they lost.

What the rule stated was review to determine if it was an opponents stick - and it was the opponents stick... didnt say anything about same team lifting opponent stick... i believe it was a mistake and league will clarify
The right call was made,Kaliyev was the lifter and unfortunately Lizotte got a nose bleed because of it. That's all to that

I don’t blame Quick for the loss. He’s got my sympathy for losing 2-1 in OT. And he’s old. On the roadie, he’s the guy who got points. Plus he won some cups a long time ago.

His backup has already cashed a $3.5M check this season and Quick needs to wait until April to see the $2.5M he’s owed. And he’s playing for his next contract. Dude is pure testosterone, compared to the guy who was handed the job and has wilted.

Lets face it, overall the team is mid. It wont be more than mid until they execute an extreme makeover on the d-corps (and the marsupial isnt helping, but he's not going anywhere). It will be rollercoaster season ending in approx .500 winning pct if things stay the same...

Well they are trying to execute a rebuild and contend at the same time.. a recipe for schizophrenia
Kings don't look the same as last year. Our 2nd line isn't as good as the 3rd maybe 4th on some nights. Defensively we haven't played very well overall and goaltending has been almost abysmal with occasional good game. The first line was great but has since stalled/dried up. Fiala needs to go back up and restart the first line. Gabe can go back to the 3rd line with Byfield and Grundstrom who seems to be our best forward a lot of nights because he digs, hits, scores and passes the puck. I'd put Kupari on the 4th line with Kaliyev and give JAD a try on the LW. Lizotte and Lemieux would be trade bait if anyone wants them besides TM. That way the Kings can bring up some more youngsters from our Farm team that's over-loaded with players trying to develop playing behind the Tynan's,Quine,Thompson's,Doty's,Bisson's of the World. Great idea having all the eggs in one basket Blake. Futa knew a thing or two and one was that with Europeans you have to develop them in home countries before embarking on the AHL-NHL. I could go on and on but I won't. It's all on Blake he needs to make some moves. Some he'll win and some he won't I think he's afraid to pull the trigger

Incorrect.. Here's the verbiage from the rule

60.3 Double-minor Penalty - When a player carries or holds any part of his stick above the shoulders and makes contact with his opponent’s neck, face or head so that injury results, in the manner of drawing blood or otherwise, the Referee shall assess a double-minor penalty. Referees making this call shall have the option (but not the obligation) to review video of the play for the purpose of confirming (or not) their original call on the ice, and, in particular, whether the stick causing the apparent injury was actually the stick of the Player being penalized.

this is probably the 4th game of the season that was a very winnable game- lost due to a self inflicted wound. Im think Tmac has to be on the hot seat. Giving Fiala that big deal and being close to the Cap; Im sure MGMT had far higher expectations than the standings reflect.

let say Kopi and Danault are gassed, at least use a center like Vilardi or Liz or Kupari.. esp against Toews

That’s what’s so maddening about it

When has TM ever considered whether those guys were gassed before

Kopitar could play 30 minutes and literally be crawling off the ice and TM would double shift him

Ya so true.. always starts them in OT with DD after they both have blown head gaskets... so what gives there? these are no brainer coaching decisions

Another night, another sub-.900 performance by a Kings goalie and another .970 for an opposing goalie, sky is blue, water is wet
It's always going to look bad when your goalie only gives up 2 , and the team allows less than 20 shots.
You know, in reflection, I'm not going to be too hard on them, because I think at the end of the trip and this bunk schedule they've had so far, they just didn't have that 'bear down' gear to generate the highest danger chances. They should have finished more, but a lot of the brain death/bouncing pucks were exhaustion mistakes, not effort issues. After the Dallas game I was REALLY worried that they'd be completely done tonight, but they fought, just didn't finish (Kopitar and Edler looked their ages though). With a little rest and practice, games like that will be Ws.

PLENTY of blame to go around on the OT play. I'm not even mad that they tried to go hard for the win--Durzi leaving 'early' was fine imo because he was making an aggressive play for an odd man rush, and Fiala fumbling was just shit luck. TM put the three most defensively liable players on the team out there for a faceoff vs. the #1 faceoff team in the league, including a winger taking the draw against f***ing Toews. What kind of brain dead shit is that? That has to be the first time ever TM DOESNT overplay Kopitar in OT, like just put a C out there for the faceoff and change if you have to, what's so hard here? Terrible coaching for the last two games, just unacceptable decisions and repeatedly.
Kopitar had a 25 sec shift in Ot. That's it. Hawks also iced the puck, so there was a stoppage and then Toews beat VA with his eyes close and one hand tied behind his back on the faceoff.

Any of those 3 would've done a better job. Problem was, Kopi for once took a short shift in OT and wasn't tired. There's no reason he shouldn't have been taking that draw.
