Depending on how the rest of the season goes I wonder if he'll be asking for what a lot of young emerging stars have been getting. Thomas, Kyrou, Stutzle, Tkachuk, Norris, Suzuki. If Villardi keeps it up I could see him asking for a similar contract

Great statement. I am hoping we could get a bridge contract given this is a breakout (or a stable long term). What do you think is fair? 5Mil 2 year or 8.5 for 8? Hard to give long term contracts given this is his first production year, but that's the battle of contracts.

We have a ton of cap space coming off the books this year, including $5.8 million from Quick and $2 million from Phaneuf’s and Richards’ buyouts. We also have $4 million in cap space right now. Kopitar’s contract comes off the books the following year. We’ll be fine on cap space

Yeah, I mean Kopi isn’t getting another $10 million contract. Even if he gets $6 million, that’s $4 million more freed up. Not to mention the cap might rise by $4 million this offseason. Great year to be a free agent I think, some guys are gonna get paid.
