#1 thing killing the Flyers is the center ice position, especially with Couturier out.

This is a direct result of the complete busting of four first-round centers: Nolan Patrick, German Rubtsov, Jay O'Brien, and Morgan Frost.

Relatedly, the #2 thing killing the Flyers is major injuries: Couturier, Atkinson, Ellis, and, with the concomitant lack of scoring depth, JVR on top of it.

I'm not seeing how it's fixable this season.

Prospects like York, Foerster, Desnoyers, Brink, Gauthier aren't quite ready.

Older prospects who were drafted for wing offense, like, Ratcliffe and Laberge at 35 and 36 overall, are also complete busts, so they are forced to take Hail Marys on other scoring busts like Bellows.

All they can really do this season is try to steal some games with goaltending and when other teams don't show up, and figure out which players to weed out from their plans going forward.

See: Chuck Fletcher. Negotiator extraordinaire.

He very likely preferred Tippett too. If there are two hockey players to choose from, he’s going to prefer the shitty one 9 times out of 10.
So you're saying Zito is stupid and could have been talked into giving up the better player even though he knew he had leverage?
And that a 34 year old rental wing scoring at a second line level (1.89 pp/60 at 5x5) can land an "A" level prospect and a 1st rd pick?

Tippett also saved FLA $1.6M against the cap, Including Samoskevich would have saved them nada.

Because Florida didn't want to trade him?

Florida demonstrated they were happy to sell the future for their run last year.

The obvious common denominator in all these failed moves where value isn't achieved, is Fletcher. Going back through his whole career. His own weak negotiating is the likely cause, as well as the strong likelihood that he believed Tippett was better, because he has also repeatedly demonstrated he is a horrible evaluator of talent. Again, through his whole career.

Only reason Chuck didn't get Florida's next 5 first round draft picks was because he can't negotiate.

Hyperbole doesn’t remove the fact that fletcher has gotten poor value out of a lot of his trades, and put himself in disadvantageous positions at the table by tipping his cards.
