It’s my bad. I thought he played LW at the juniors with Mac. I mean some players can play either side but you want them to be comfortable on their natural side.

I think Carlsson for one example is a LW/C . I just think with McTavish, Zegras and the potential Top 3, someone has to go to wing. These guys aren’t going to the 3rd line.

One can hope right?

Henrique - Zegras - Vatrano
Bedard - McTavish - Terry
Regenda - Lundy - Strome
Jones - Groulx - Silf

Bedard has always been on Mac's RW at the WJC-18 and WJC-20. They've got chemistry together, but McTavish-Terry has no to little chemistry.

Strome-Zegras-Terry
Rico-Mac-Bedard
Jones-Lundy-Vatrano
Carrick-Groulx-Silf

This way, we get better chemistry pair with Z-Terry and Mac-Bedard.

I'd scramble those LWs.
Rico-Z-Terry
Jones-Mac-B
Storme-Lundy-Vatrano

Top line gets a smarter defensive player who can win a draw, Jones gives the second line a prayer of winning a battle and Strome and Vatrano can play together which...seems fair? And maybe make some use of Lundy's latent offense.

I wonder who would be NHL ready of the Top 3. Bedard obviously. I think Carlsson can make a smooth transition to the NHL since he is in a men’s league. Fantilli maybe the following year If he chooses to stay in college one more year?

I like Jones, but I want more finish. Then again, you don't need more finish with McTavish and Bedard. More grit would be far more helpful and Jones has that in spades.

Bedard isn't going back to the CHL, but he can't go to the AHL due to his age. To the NHL he goes, but that doesn't mean he's NHL ready.

Carlsson's point production has looked great this year, but he's had an up-and-down year with the team. While he's putting up points in the playoffs, it's a small sample. I'd like for him to bring that for most of next season in the SHL. His SHL team is a far better situation than our situation next year, especially since we don't know who our coach will be. Let Carlsson stay to develop against men another year and then his transition won't be as steep at the NHL level.

Fantilli could make the jump next year, but he might wear down like McTavish did this year. Fantilli is in a similar situation to Carlsson. They're in great programs. Being in the NCAA will help Fantilli with his physical growth and endurance. The recent top, first round picks from Michigan have all went an extra season before coming to the NHL in D Power, C Beniers, and F Kent Johnson. D Luke Hughes is in his second year at Michigan this year. He's set to sign with the Devils as soon as his NCAA hockey career is over with.

I really like Michigan's program and that extra year seems to do their players well at the NHL level. Also, Fantilli's game didn't take off until after the WJC's. He's learning how to play team puck than hero puck.

I've wondered if Bedard would stay at center. Maybe he starts to the season at wing and then shifts to center.

I think it's probably best to leave Bedard at wing all next season b/c he still needs to adapt physically to the NHL game as well as learn how to play defense at the NHL level. That defensive responsibility is the reason why Bedard has played wing at all International WJC games, three times with McTavish as his center (wjc-18, wjc-20 cancelled, wjc-20).

Z has put in two plus years at playing and learning center. McTavish looks to be well established next year as the other top-6 center, being ahead of Z at the defensive game.

Bedard might be more dangerous on the wing as a scorer and not think too much about the offensive and defensive aspects of being a center, especially playing in a top-6 role.

10 million is what a passable 3rd line seems to cost these days. Zero problem with Strome and Vatrano being there as we progress

Strome and Vatrano being pushed to the 3rd line will be good for Lundy to get some skilled guys around him, and it also means we have a pretty stacked Top 6 if those two cannot crack the Top 6.
