Harkins is okay. Seems to skate and buzz around a lot, but accomplishes very little. I think he’s a decent fourth line/13th forward option, and I’m a bit surprised he’s the one being sent down, but I’m not terribly bent out of shape over it. It’s actually good news, if anything, because it means some of our guys are close to returning hopefully.
He's not skilled enough to evade defensive pressure and not strong enough to win puck battles.

You end up with a guy who has the odd good play and can skate the puck up the ice well enough, but not much else.

I agree he's a decent 4th line but the problem is we have a bunch of guys that bring more value to that role.

Bowness doesn't like his game which aligns with what I've seen.
I know you play a pretty high level of hockey which makes me respect your input. I didn't see an overwhelming failure in his game, but I think there's something going on with the addition of some speedy RWers that makes Jansen more expendable.

I don't think your assessment of Harkins was wrong. There could be some bias in my opinion as well. Bowness did say that he was just 'okay', and that he had to work on 'everything'. From a guy who is really careful not to publicly call out his players individually, that's pretty damning.

That's the easy decisions for now. Seems like Bones and the organization like Eyssimont enough to avoid risking losing him on waivers. And that makes senses given the type of play he brings, that the Jets don't have a lot of.

When Wheeler and Maenalanen are ready to come back that's where it will get trickier. Only Heinola is waiver eligible, other than Barron, who hasn't been demoted at any time this season, and Perfetti, who seems safe.

Edit : already posted.

See ya Ville.
The fact that Eyssimont isn't in that group but Ville is likely means that Wheeler coming back is going to see Eyssimont placed on waivers, that's what IC mentioned as well. So I think Ville stays up until Maenalanen is good to go. The Bones press conference kind of hinted that they weren't ready to send him down yet.

Hard to get excited about these bottom of the roster moves but darn I like Mikey and hope he succeeds.

What I find interesting is the Jets have demoted their 3rd highest CF% player and are about to demote their 4th. I think we both find a commonality in a disdain for the importance placed on this stat, and it tells me that there is more than that that coaches are tracking. Zone clears is one for sure that doesn't get mentioned, and I wonder what @garret9 would have to say about that.

I'd be more concerned if I was Gus. He's been pushed out by Strenlund at 4C.

Edit: I hope Wheeler isn't rushing back, I find it hard to fathom that he goes from a ways away to ready to play in a matter of days.
We already know that Wheels has balls of steel.

Gustafsson being benched isn't a big deal because there's no offense coming from him. I suspect that it doesn't take long before he gets back in the lineup. Definitely can see him replacing Gagner at some point in that lineup, for a faster and better defensive 4th line.

Can he even play RW, he's looked lost in a more natural LW setting.

I agree it's not a big deal for the team but for him personally it will hopefully be a wakeup call that more is needed from him.

Really great to see a real top 6 back. Also nice to see a bottom 6 that looks to be able to hold their own. At this point Ville looks to be the odd man out once Big Sak is ready.

I'm hoping that they are willing to pull Snerg out for Ville if Snerg continues to struggle. Small sample but Ville's been a lot better than Dylan recently.
