~15-16m left for St Louis to re-sign ROR, Barbashev Mikkola, a backup goalie, and ~5 forwards. That is going to be very tight...
No wonder they let Perron walk. Although if they had him 2 playoffs ago they would have beaten us... So maybe they should have kept him :sarcasm:

Blues doing the right thing.

Get some young talent around the same age, make them your core players, sign them long term throughout their 20's, build around them.

Ottawa is also doing this perfectly.

So we ever going to get 29 resigned, kind of insane that it hasn't happened yet.

Should have been done at the beginning of the summer.
I won’t be worried until the season starts. There’s been a trend of Sakic getting some players signed in/before camp. If we go into the season without a signing then I’ll start to worry a bit.

Sakic ends up paying full market value anyway (see: Nuke, Landy).

Might as well do it earlier.
Meh... I don't mind taking time to see if a discount can happen. At this point, they know the ranges and can plan around that.

It’s pretty obvious that they are waiting to see more concrete evidence of a cap jump. Why would Nate and his agent rush to sign a deal when talks of a cap jump are happening? He could sign for an identical cap hit percentage later and make 2-3 million more for himself. I know it sucks but he probably doesn’t care that some fans are impatient.

Strickland has been speculating that ROR isn’t going to get the type of contract offer in STL that he’d think he’s earned.
A 32-39 contract at 9+m is awfully hard to live up to. Even with ROR being one of the smartest hockey players in the game, his skating is likely to significantly degrade over that term. I think ROR has earned every penny he can get (his Cup year was one of the greatest individual seasons as you can have), but a 35+ ROR at 9m sounds like a complete disaster.

Sounds like something Jim Nill would offer.

Negociations with Rantanen took a while
Negociations with Landeskog took a while
Negociations with Makar took a while
Negociations with Mack, well, seems to be a patern here so no big surprise... although pretty annoying!!
Yah annoying but it will get done. That pay cut aint going be under 10 like alot of people thought last year. Its probably going to be 13 mill and not 13.5 mill.

Shocking... if the past is any indication, this is going to be one tough contract to sign. I wonder what will happen with him... assuming no re-signing in St-Louis, which seems obvious, will they keep him for the playoffs as their own rental or will they trade him ??? Sign and trade or trade and sign will be difficult because his demands will likely be through the roof and he'll want to go to UFA to maximize his contract.

Sounds like something Jim Nill would offer.

I'm very curious to see what it will look like. I don't think many think it will be under 10. I think the range of opinion is closer to whether it will be $11M or $13M. I think it will be in the $11M, but I'm an optimist :-)

Plus, as much as everyone wants to focus on the discount comment from a couple of years ago, more recently he spoke of escrow.

Francouz is a back up. We know. He knows it. Gondor knows it. Im 99% sure he does not want to be traded to be a starter elsewhere. He will get his chance to take the spot in Denver by the second week of October anyways after Georgiev proves hes Miska.
