I could see us not having a Captain next season. It's sort of a similar spot as when Backes left and gave it to Petro, we just don't have a Petro that is ready for it. Schenn is the Steen in this comparison, the logical vet that still has term and playing at a quality level, but represents the old core. Thomas is the closest to Petro, but not really since Petro was already a seasoned vet with two top 5 Norris finishes. Without having a Petro in the new core, it's probably best to wait and see who emerges.

You don't want to give it to Schenn, just to have the temptation to strip it later for a younger guy, and you don't want to give it to Thomas before you are fully confident in him being that guy. And no one else comes close IMO.

So what you mean is losses? bragging about top 5 doesn't do anything but cause embarrassment.
What are you even trying to argue with this comment? Would you rather have top 5 finishes for the Norris or not sniff the voting of any award? It's obvious that Petro was an elite player when he got the C and was a leader of the ship, and that's something that you can't say about any player on our current roster.

Acting like a top 5 loss is something to write home about is f***ing stupid. Don't even mention it at alll because it's a f***ing worthless shit thing, might as well make a banner for losing like Trashville does.

I can't even tell if you are being serious. If you're not a Norris winner, you're basically Mikkola.

He is, but for a stupid reason. He is pathologically unable to give Pietrangelo any credit. His argument has nothing to do with whether a Top 5 Norris finish matters and everything to do with hating Pietrangelo because he left for Vegas.

And I didn't mean to start another dumb Petro discussion, just wanted to make the distinction between last time we switched Cs from an old core to a new core, the new core's leader was significantly more advanced in development.

For someone whose tag line is "Reckless Optimism", this sure seems angry and sullen... The guy was just using strong evidence to simply suggest that Petro's play was among the top of defenders at the time. It's a stark contrast from anyone one this current team. Its so out of the blue that I can't tell if you are trolling... Nothing he said was unreasonable. Certainly, nothing he said was full of animus or vitriol towards anyone.

Nothing optimistic about thinking losing means something.

It's bullshit. It's not a good faith argument.

I'm going to start calling Faulk "loser" all the time now. Faulk is such a loser. A perrenial loser. Faulk loses every f***ing year. He has never won shit. Pietrangelo won the captaincy, a Stanley Cup. Faulk, nada. Big f***ing loser. Everyone on our team is a loser. Can't win a goddamn award for being the best player in the best league in the world. What f***ing losers.

Dead serious, If you don't win then you lost. Do we celebrate not winning the cup? Do we brag about losing in the 1st round?
Why the change up from six months ago?

I'm curious what eventually happens with Buchnevich. Over his past 42 games, he has 52 points, 19 goals, and a +12. Now I'm conveniently cherry picking out that big losing streak at the beginning of the season, but these are elite numbers over a fairly large sample. If he can successfully transition to center and maintain production, his value goes through the roof.

What would it cost to extend him, and would he be open to staying here long-term? If he is able to move to center, and remains a 90+ point producer, then he's arguably on Petro tier of contract negotiations for Army. I absolutely want to keep him long-term, but this is something that Army has to get right. If we aren't willing to do a deal that it would take to keep him or if he's not interested in staying, then we have to cash in on his value, and his value is massive right now.

You can mention Alex Pitetangelo, former Blues captain and cornerstone of the most successful era of Blues hockey ever, whenever you want and if haters don't like it, they can just not like it. If they say stupid things, feel free to respond as many times as you want.

Do none of you understand anything? Trying to say someone finished top 5 in voting for an award is f***ing stupid. He did not win the award so just using that as a way to put his name in the same sentence as the norris is f***ing stupid. The above post of mine is in no way close to anything I have said today. I never said Pietrangelo was bad. I said bringing up NOT winning the norris as a f***ing good quality because "he was close" is f***ing stupid.

Would you prefer I say he was widely considered a top 10 defenseman when he was named captain, and Thomas is not at that level in his position yet? It's pretty clear what I was saying...

You said he was a seasoned vet, that would have been enough. Especially since awards have nothing to do with someone being a good captain or not.

I think Schenn may yet end up becoming Captain. That means both being named captain, but also stepping forward to be the leader.

I haven’t seen one person mention Buchnevich as a potential Captain. Any particular reason we shouldn’t consider him?
