Yeah I think the last year has really painted McDavid in a new light for me. I used to genuinely like him and thought he was a good guy both on and off the ice.

...I'm starting to think he's actually a piece of shit off the ice.
I don't think he's a bad person, I think he just doesn't have much of a personality having been media trained ever since someone realised how good he was at hockey. He's never going to say or do anything controversial or have a decisive opinion on anything.

I think it’s one of those things we’re he’s trying to say something to keep everyone happy but you just can’t do that in this situation.

First the coach walks mid-season by himself then this.

The Jets went from contender to total mess real quick. A small, unattractive market that will take a looooong time to recover from this failure. Good luck building another contenter team Winnipeg.

Well, it's no secret they're working on getting Wheeler out of there, so this just all but confirms that his tenure in Winnipeg will not be for much longer. Thing is, I don't believe anyone wants anything to do with that contract now that Wheeler is clearly in decline. A shame, they really should've gone for it a lot sooner than they did as he was one of the few players who apparently really wanted to be in WPG.

Seriously though, going from possibly having Barry Trotz behind the bench to Rick Bowness is like having a date lined up with Jackie Redmond only to show up to meet Stu Grimson in drag.

Kind of amazing that he's in decline (I agree) and still a PPG player. If Winnipeg retains 50%, he'll still be worth a lot to a team that needs a guy to push them over the top at wing.

The Sharks design team is just pranking us.

This move is going to lower his trade value too. What a bad look from any perspective.

Wheeler has a cap hit of $8.25M? Damn.

He's still a solid player but you're going to have to take a big contract back that you probably don't want or retain the max 50% in order to move him. Even with 50% retained though, whose signing up for just over $4M/yr for his age 36 and 37 years?

Arizona lol

Dallas was the first team that came to mind for me. They love their expensive vets who are past their prime. It may make no sense cap wise but never rule them out. Probably fits their style of play too because no matter who their coach is, they always end up playing the same slow grind it out style.
