Head butted… but immediately left the game and was angry about it. Concussions are piling up and his game is all about physicality. Not a great combo.
Oh, that's a shame. Not a fan of that guy at all but I don't really wish that on anyone.

Well I do, but not him.

EK65 is going to run away with the Norris.

If he keeps this pace up yeah. Though I think he'll have to outscore 2nd place by quite a significant margin in order to win it honestly.

Seems in recent years voters are starting to catch on to the significance of analytics more then raw numbers and particularly a good mixture of being both elite offensively but also very good or at least not a liability defensively.

We saw it last year with Makar getting the win over Josi despite less points but far better analytics and particularly defensive metrics. Karlsson really, truly is being used essentially as a 4th forward. Really strong offensively but an absolute disaster defensively.

I think if he gets 100 points and is the only Dman to do it, he'll win simply on that statistical merit alone. If he doesn't get 100, and assuming someone like Makar still ends up in the 85-95 range, I'd guess Cale gets it again. Although probably not Cale in particular. Unless he goes on a tear the second half(Definitely possible as we start getting even a little bit healthier with hopefully Mack back next game), both Fox and Dahlin have similar production but much better numbers under the hood then Cale so far.

Dahlin has the most impressive numbers to me right now.

Dahlin’s emergence has been great. Love it when apparent dissapppintments turn it around. Reminds me of Mack’s 17-18 season. Ended up changing the fortunes of the franchise.

Crazy that they had a 1st overall, 2nd overall, and 11th overall pick and didn't get a single franchise cornerstone out of any of that. That's way, way, WAY worse than what the Bruins did in 2015.

They managed to pad this until now by getting another franchise goalie developed (which they deserve all due credit for) and lucking out with two franchise-level players who simply wanted to go there via free agency, but this merely leaves them as a "good" team. Unless Shesterkin can go into God mode, they'll never win a Cup with this core.
And Gorton ended up in Montreal lol and took the dud Slaf

Speaking of the 2019 draft...

Obviously too early to tell but I'll laugh heartily if Cam York becomes a better NHL defenseman than Victor Soderstrom. Another galaxy-brain move by Chayka where he swapped picks with Philly to move up in 2019 to take that guy and Philly used the original AZ pick to take York.
Well Hayton is a good player. He'll come around

Oh, I didn’t even make the connection.

I suppose I can’t fault Gorton too much in NY, both Kakko and Lafreniere were the consensus picks there. There were rumblings about Slaf being the better player over Weight but I figured Wright was still the top guy—feels like overscouting at work. Guess we’ll see.

The Andersson pick was a massive, massive error though. Kravtsov might be too.

As for Chayka I’ve said before he walked into a defense-heavy draft, picked a forward, then went into a forward-heavy draft and traded up to pick a defenseman. Just pure galaxy-brain bullshit. Same thing with the 18-20 trades he made every season. I have no idea what Hayton is but it’s not a good sign when it already appears to have some players passing him on the depth chart.

Btw, Chicago trading away Cat and Dach. Dang. Maybe huge mistakes. Funny.
Cat... yeah that might be a mistake, but they are in complete tear it down mode. Get that... but he's a legit threat as a goal scorer and those are not easy to find.

Dach on the other hand, I don't think they will live to regret as much. Everybody wants him to be a center (including Montreal now) and he's just not that guy. Every single time it is forced, he struggles immensely. If Montreal continues down that path, they'll get tired of him and send him on his way in a a few seasons. Not that he is a bad player at all, just a victim of expectations.

We are not alone

The Coyotes would win the Cup if they hired a hypnotist who could somehow convince them that every Eastern Conference team they play is Toronto and every Western Conference team they play is Colorado.

Are you saying it is not standard procedure to trade away promising young players in a rebuilt?
They got picks for Dach, so more of a lateral move.

Now Blues, they might feel some regret after trading Tage Thompson. You get the cup, but it would be like us trading Makar. Would hurt for the next 10 years to see them play elsewhere.

The Blues are just fine with the guy who led them to a Cup and won the Conn Smythe.

Nobody, and I mean not even Tage Thompson's dad thought Tage would turn into this level of player.

Cup > everything else IMO. With how hard it is to win and the fact that there are 12 teams in the NHL that have never won a single Cup (5 that have never competed for it in the finals)... teams should embrace winning a Cup.

I do rather like both players the Blackhawks got for Dach. Nazar has a higher ceiling than Dach and may translate at center... with his size though, he might have some translation issues at center. If he clicks... he's gotta lot of Point in his game.

He plays mostly wing in Montreal. They have been trying him at C recently because of the Monahan injury and they are trying to get 2 lines going. Didn't work, it's pretty clear he's not a center.

Important to note that Suzuki and Caufield suffer offensively quite a bit when Dach isn't on their line. He's an important player for them.
