In 10 years HFBoard reading posts about Makar not being generational:

Lidstrom is probably one of the reasons why we’ve got “voter fatigue” now and it’s difficult to repeat.

They were handing out Norris’ to this dude like candy back in the day. Tell me he deserved it over Blake in 01-02 and I’ll tell you and those voters to go **** yourself. They even gave Chelios more votes that year because Red Wings.

01-02, 05-06 and 10-11 are the only 3 semi-controversial Lidstrom wins IMO. He had 4 where he was BY FAR the winner. If you just counted those four, only Orr, Harvey and Bourque would be ahead of him... that's how good Lidstrom was. 01-02 and 05-06 were toss ups to me. Chelios getting 2nd likely took away votes from Blake... but between Blake and Lidstrom, that looks like a toss up to me. 05-06 also a toss up year where I think voters just flat out screwed up. I get Lidstrom winning, but it should have been very close with Zubov. Zubov was unreal in that year after the lockout.

10-11 is the only year where I feel Lidstrom didn't really have a case to win it. I think Visnovsky had the best case that year, but some east coast bias and anti-Russian bias hurt him. My second would have been Weber with third being Lidstrom. Chara was in the mix that year too... just one of those years where you had 4 guys at the very top and they split votes... the guy with the least built in resume and most working against him finished 4th, and the guy with the best resume finished first.

How can a player that has completed 3 NHL seasons labeled generational?

If there are injuries and regression that is no longer even a conversation. Makar has to be better than any Dman for quite some time or he is not generational. Saying that he has the potential sounds reasonable, but saying that he flat out is generational is too much.

Being a generational talent is not measured in years. Makar is a generational talent now.

Now we are just moving the goalposts. Either he is generational or he isn't. 3 seasons is not a reasonable time to assess the situation.
You put these goal posts there about time, I didn't. Watch him play like no other and you'll see he is a generational talent. I have never seen a Dman play like that, hence generational.

Is Patrick Roy generational?

Also, will whoever steps up today to make a Monday evening GDT during the doldrums of the season be considered a generational HFAvs contributor?

I'm not generational, I'm just a wily veteran poster around here. More of a role player. Will stick up for my fellow Avs posters, (or postmates)? will gladly fight any Minnesota Wild poster

It's been 3 seasons. Do you crown other players generational after a few seasons as well, is that all it takes now?
Yes, McDavid and Crosby were generational before they even played a game.

Makar is the best player in the league and is generational
