Buccigross is like, laughably difficult to listen to  making super weird references, but the worst part is how many times they keep reminding us this is “Gaudreau’s return to Calgary” omg they won’t shut up (and I’ve only watched from the 3rd, can’t imagine a whole game of this)

The top of the East looks like it is starting to shake out. Top 2 in the Metro will be Carolina and New Jersey. Top 3 in Atlantic are decided and likely in order. Rags/Caps/Pens are the likely last playoff teams with the lower two being the Wild Card teams. Buffalo/Florida/NYI still have an outside chance of getting in. They need some stumbles to make it happen.

Out West... pretty much the only things decided are one of Dallas or Winnipeg are likely to win the Central. Even Nashville and St Louis have solid chances of climbing back in. There probably ends up 6 or 7 teams between .525 and .600 pts %. Margin for error below .550 is almost zero.

Just noticed that Ryan Murray is on IR, again.

His career may be over at this point.

Gotta feel somewhat for Brad Larsen. He was handed a pretty lousy roster and it sure looks like his franchise goalie is just broken both in body and mind. But add to that two very talented players in Roslovic and Laine who just...don't give a f*** on most nights. Imagine Domi in the mix with all that, perennial passengers night in, night out.

Looks like he's finally fed up with Roslovic. Benched his dumb ass for about half the game in Calgary last night. No way he survives this.

I think Laine gets a worse reputation than he deserves, personally. Every time I watch him he looks engaged in battles and trying to create offense.

Is he perfect? No, but I don't think he's anything close to the problem in Columbus.

Neverending lack of long term vision is the problem in Columbus. I blame Jarmo but it's possible that ownership is the issue.

At least it's a good year to finish bottom 2, even though I'm sure they'd prefer to finish just outside the playoff bubble.

Why would they ever want that? The entire league is designed that you should either tank or make the playoffs, anything in between is purgatory.

I don't know the reason why but it's clear that they are aiming for the playoff bubble every year. Nowhere near good enough to be a contender but straight up refusing to tank and rebuild properly to become one.

Just proved it once again last summer with the Johnny hockey signing and keeping Laine.
