Somebody watched the Oilers/Kings game last night and decided to proclaim the Pacific division as the toughest path to the Cup on the main boards. I love HF sometimes. Lol
Saw that. What an idiotic statement lolSomebody watched the Oilers/Kings game last night and decided to proclaim the Pacific division as the toughest path to the Cup on the main boards. I love HF sometimes. Lol
Anybody who doesn’t have Atlantic as the toughest path to the Cup hasn’t been paying attention.Saw that. What an idiotic statement lol
I was most wrong about the Flames than any other team during the off-season. I thought they would run away with the division.
They aren't as bad as their record show, just had terrible goaltending and lost a lot of tight games, but far away from being a contender.

Markstrom losing all semblance of confidence has sunk them completely this year. Even if he was a .905 goalie... Calgary probably has 5-7 more wins. If he plays to his .910ish average, that might be approaching 10 more. Now some of those would be the OT/SO losses, but they'd legitimately be ~10-12 points higher in the standings with just average goaltending.Just having better goaltending could rectify a few of those stats and give them a much better season next year.

21 losses when outshooting the opponent by 10+
It's pretty damn rare that the team that outshoots the other by 10+ shots wasn't the better team that night. That means that for at least 15 of those losses CGY was the better team. Markstrom really sucks.
Well, their gamebreaker is Huberdeau (damn that's a bad contract). Not just that, but they don't have an elite, gamebreaking talent in the lineup. There's no Draisaitl or Makar who can just bust through and put the puck in the net.
At some point, when you're getting goalie'd that often, it says a lot about your offense. Calgary is ranked 16th in GF%, the only teams behind them who are in contention for a playoff spot are Pittsburgh and Winnipeg, and they're 19th and 17th, respectively (Preds are sandwiched in there).
Avs are 9th if anyone is curious.
Funny thing is, in terms of xGF% they're THIRD in the league. Some of that is no doubt inflated by the shot totals and what not but they're also generating shots from high-danger areas as well. They're just not putting it in the GD net. That's where the lack of a true gamebreaker bites you in the ass.Ehhhhhh shot totals are highly deceiving with Calgary and have been for years. They throw EVERYTHING at the net it doesn't matter from where. So many of their shots are such low percentage attempts. They'll outshoot a team by 15 yet it has nothing to do with them outplaying the opposition.
Don't blame Markstrom when Sutter keeps playing him. Vlader has crashed back down to Earth, but earlier in the season when he was hot, Sutter should've ridden him.21 losses when outshooting the opponent by 10+

Bettman needs all the revenue the league can get! Please tell me the bankruptcy trial will be on PPV.

Aliya Growth Fund claims the goalie and his wife didn't disclose litigation and unpaid taxes when applying for loan.theathletic.com
Really though, what was his alternative? Pretty sure he DID ride the hot hand with Vladar but even when he was "hot" he still wasn't great. The team was never going to succeed with Vladar as the starter.Don't blame Markstrom when Sutter keeps playing him. I was thinking the proceeds would go towards paying his creditors. It's not going to be a typical bankruptcy, they are citing fraud and fradulent behavior...Bettman needs all the revenue the league can get!
I haven't been around too many bankruptcy cases and all are on the business side for me... but pretty common that creditors cite fraud. They are trying to get the case thrown out so they can get all of their money back or at least more than they'd get from a settlement. Especially AGF being so late in the process and pecking order.I was thinking the proceeds would go towards paying his creditors. "Lehner and his wife, Donya, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection on Dec. 30, later listing $5.2 million of assets and $27.3 million of liabilities. The creditor filing by Aliya Growth Fund (AGF), which loaned Lehner $4.75 million six weeks before he filed for bankruptcy, is the first signal that the process will not be smooth and is unlikely to end by the close of the year, as the debtor had suggested in previous court filings. Its 14-page complaint, in which Aliya asks for a trial, uses the terms “fraud” and “fraudulent” 10 times."
