It's not so much that he is looking terrible, more so that he isn't looking great...

When you factor in his draft position... and you factor in, other 2022 draftees Mesar and Beck looking dynamite... it only compounds it.
It doesn't compound anything. Be happy that Beck and Mesar look like dynamite and let Slaf progress on his own. Draft order is completely irrelevant now, the draft is over.

Be happy that Slaf doesn't look as good as Beck/Mesar thus far in preseason.

Makes sense.

Be happy that Beck/Mesar don't look worse than Slaf. Not really hard to understand, make a little effort.

If you're one of the idiots who thought the rebuild was going to be over because we had 1st OA, welcome back to reality comrade. The rebuild has just started and Slaf has all the time in the world to get where he needs to be before we contend.

Okay,

So no one is to have any differing opinions.

No more talk on Slaf. Tune back in 5 years, close this thread.

Got it.
Everybody could be dissapointed. 'Cause everyobdy has expectations and dissapointed is actually about your own expectations.

But NOBODY, if one of their goals is to be taken seriously, cannot be already putting Slaf in the bust category, in the we should have picked this guy or that guy....that's just plain stupid.

So be dissapointed. Find that Slaf will have to work on this or that. But it should end there.

I never said Slaf was a bust.

I can't find one person who seriously thinks Slaf is a legit bust after 2 games.

Can you point them out?

I didn't tell you not to post. You drew that conclusion on your own.

I made a valid reply to your comment, nowhere did I tell you what you could or could not talk about.

That's kind of the vibe I'm getting.

Let people vent their thoughts and let's have discourse around it.

Hell, the GM has the same unpopular opinion that most are mad about regarding Slaf...

No vibe. You made a comment, I made a rebuttal.

This is a hockey forum.

I haven't prevented anyone from venting, but as you said, this is a hockey forum. If you make a post and get challenged on it, it doesn't mean you shouldn't speak on it.

You drew a parallel to Mesar and Beck looking better than Slarkovsky.

I answered that Kotkaniemi also looked better than Suzuki at camp 4 years ago.

The inference being; that who is at what point at THIS stage of their development (18/19) doesn't really matter. So there really isn't value in saying that other than to drive home what might be an agenda?? I don't know...

You were being challenged, not silenced.

There's literally thousands of examples of X player looked like crap at Y age but now looks great..

Yes it's good to provide some perspective, but it also would have been nice for the guy we drafted to grab the bull by the horns and be that amazing player who carried his team at the Olympics and etc.

Is this such a bad take?

It'll be a while before we know whether Slaf or Wright was the better pick. Or if either of them are any good. Still though I was kinda hoping Slaf would look totally awesome in his first couple games, and was kinda disappointed. But that was probably unrealistic of me. It's just two games.

That said, I don't know if it was wise of Hughes to be critical of him after two preseason games.

Why are you in the Dach thread literally posting “he’s still only 21” but in here complaining that an 18 year old that’s only played two games in NA hasn’t scored yet?

I got one  -> Renaud Lavoie is very close to call him a bust. Particularly the guy is already going to even criticizing the way he tape his hockey stick saying good player tape it all and he should think about it. Same guy that was bashing Shane Wright before the draft and saying Slaf was a WoW player. ( funny coming from a media of a TV channel, he's losing more and more credibility to me)

To be fair with Slaf, he hades a lot going against him in the second game.

It was a back to back with voyagement. Tatar invited him to dinner after the Devils game. He didn’t know he was playing.

While I really don’t trust Slaf. I have to argue that not everything was for him in those 2 games.

Renaud would have hated Bobby Orr!

Not complaining that Slaf hasn't scored yet.

I just think he's looked very mediocre so far, especially in that 2nd game.

We know he has another gear, we've already seen it.

I wouldn't say it doesn't matter, since his hockey IQ issues and trouble with the NHL game and NHL defensemen are something a lot of us saw coming. That doesn't mean those issues will persist forever, but they do definitely exist.

Development does not have a single variable. Everything about a player is calculated as part of an equation that will eventually predict success or failure.
