Lol, Yeah all that's great and everything sure, not sure what you're babbling about at the end there but wtv

But Hughes specifically said to all teams inquiring about Chiarot, that the conversation begins and ends with a 2023 1st round pick.

So,..yeah
Your point is that they did not draft Wright even though he may have been the BPA because they can get a center next year. To which I answered that you should take BPA else those players would not have been drafted top 10 by the same teams. But maybe it is too hard to understand for you.

You seem like a guy entering a cult where the guru is omniscient. Sorry to disappoint but HuGo can‘t see the future :D

I really hope he has the IQ to improve/quicken his decision making. This was and still is my biggest concern with him. He clearly has the physical tools to be a great or even elite player, but if he continues to need as much time to make plays as it seems he does now, he'll be disappointingly ineffective at the NHL level.

He seems clever and competent enough off ice, but general intelligence and hockey intelligence are different, and he better not lack the latter.

The point is that they may have been more comfortable passing on Wright (who they evaluated at the same level as Cooley and Slafkovsky) because they felt they would be more likely to find a player like or better than Wright next draft vs. Slafkovsky where you may only get one chance at a player of his ilk.

LOL ok, again, you're babbling about god knows what with Wright this and the Top 10 that and you think your being clever with potshots about something something, Ey all that's great bud, good job, great smile!

So ANYway
Lshap mentioned if Hugo really does look multiple drafts ahead, he'd be impressed
I said HuGo demanding 2023 (1st) picks proves that they do AND they HAVE admitted as much that they are planning that way.

And then we get you... with these.. posts? Going on and on about ..knowing exactly who they will take..? Predicting futures? Wha? They should go BPA next year? Uh no SHIT lol, It doesnt matter what you were really trying to say you're basically out of your element piggy backing into a middle of a conversation?
See, this is why nobody talks to you at parties lol

HuGo hit an absolute home run with Slafkovsky and anyone that says otherwise is a fool smh..

lol you think there were better players available over Slaf? Someone with his power, size and strength combo with his high IQ? Who??
We'll know in 4-5 years time. Stating that we hit a "homerun" with Juraj is premature when he has two career preseason games to his name. He may very well turn out to be the player you estimate him to be, but it is far too early in the game to say definitively.

you see to be anti-Slaf. who would you have picked?

I scouted Slaf a few times last season in Liiga play and also in Int’l competition.

The main and pretty much only concern I had was his ability to process the game, and I wondered if he had the IQ to keep up at an NHL pace. I think his tools and physical traits are exceptional and pretty much unseen for someone his age, mature with a personality, doesn’t shy away from competition or challenges. I did not view him as a top-3 prospect (I personally prefer young defenseman), but he has everything you need in a dominating top-6 winger. He needs to play in Laval to iron out his ability to make quick decisions and adapt to North American hockey/ice. He can figure it out, as long as he isn’t rushed. I hope he becomes a monster for you guys, I was really intrigued by him during my preparation for the draft. At minimum you get a middle six winger but I think he can be much more if developed patiently, and it might only take one season. Hoping for a good year from him. He won’t be a Rantanen or a Jagr, but he’ll make a name for himself in his own way.

Also FWIW, I lived in Kingston for a few years and watched Wright play many times. I had some major concerns about his work ethic and willingness to play with intensity or drive play himself. He might become a good top-6 center someday but it was totally reasonable to take Slaf ahead of him. No matter how things shake out in the future. Hope Slaf pans out for you guys though. Really neat prospect

I've been very positive and optimistic since the regime change but you can't blame people for sh****** their pants and being pessimistic towards slafs offensive potential when we are fans of the Montreal Canadians who have done nothing right offensively with any prospect ever for decades. That said bashing on him this early on in his career , after pre-season games where he dosent even look that bad is pretty whack

Caufield?

Wright wouldn’t be doing any better. Right now, he’s basically a sniper but without the ability to finish like Caufield. Being very generous, as of today, the rest of his game is very interchangeable with anyone else on the Kraken roster. Only the worries would be of a different nature. Neither is McDavid.

Thank you for your insight.
Patience truly is the key.

I’ve watched him tons too before camp. Adding what I’ve seen at camp, these are my concerns.

Slaf can do all the fancy dekes, fancy passes, trick plays. A bunch no one in NA has seen yet, Very impressive for a big man. Even unseen. Nevertheless because goalies have gotten much better in the past years, goals are more at a premium than assists. The guy you passed to needs to be an excellent finisher or very lucky to finish. So you better learn to finish yourself.

Because of his strength and speed, Slafkofsky can get to scoring areas as easily as anyone I’ve ever seen. But he doesn’t have the selfishness and the obsession to shoot and drive the net. He has a very heavy shot but just doesn’t use it enough. Ramsey at the Olympics and the Worlds practically had to beg him to shoot on net.

His best plays during preseason are when he put the puck on the net. It seems a no-brainer that when you have a heavy shot like that and an ease to get to the net, because you’re 240 pounds, you do it all the time. But he doesn’t. This nose for the net that seems so obvious and simple might not be teachable. And perhaps the Canadiens want to prop other aspects of his games. To me the elephant in the room is his unwillingness to shoot on net.

Jack Hughes and Alexis Lafrenière were both more clear cut 1st overall projected to be future stars in the NHL. They both had 21 points in their 1st NHL season. They're gradually doing better now in their 3rd and going on 4th year respectively.

There's 0 harm in being patient, we have been rewarded by letting Caufield play in the NCAA and keeping Guhle in junior. They weren't as physically ready sure... but Slaf doesn,t make this team into a playoff bound one.

Let the kids go to the AHL which will be a winning environment in comparison to MTL this year. We know the plan, draft high in 2023 and move them up next year. With what happened in Laval this year, if we send our young players and defense to play together with Primeau, they might even have a chance at the Calder... that's great development right there.
