I am not expecting him to be mcdavid. I expect him to learn how fast and strong nhl players are and adapt his play and trainning. Also, just get better. He will be a good player. I dont doubt that.

Imagine if Wright played yesterday and scored 3 goals

I think there was a lot of hype for him, especially after the draft.

Ultimately I want to see a PPG player so however he gets there is fine by me. I'm rooting for his success but it's slowly dawning on people that he is, indeed, raw.

Not anymore or any less than anyone who goes 1st overall.

I mean...

Yes, you want to see a PPG player TODAY...I get it.

You're insecure about the Habs picking him 1st, so short of him easing your securities...he's a bust.

And it's debatable whether or not you're actually rooting for his success...I think you'd rather be right, more than anything. That clearly comes across in your posts.

You didn't notice any hype around him pre/post-draft? Especially after Mckenzie's final rankings were out.
I mean, seems pretty customary for anyone slated to go 1st overall.

It wasn't McDavid level hype, which is normal since no one said he was going to be as good.

But I don't see anymore or any less hype for him vs say Owen Power last year.

We're just Habs fans and we think we're the center of the hockey universe.

Slaf‘s strength and power were great. He had a good taste of the more limited reaction time he has with the players’ speed and small NA ice. I am sure he’ll adjust this week. He’s already the best Forward along the boards, you’ll notice he loses the puck a lot less than anyone else.

I believe the worst Center for Slaf is Dach at this point because they do a lot of the same stuff. They rush up the ice, do the zone entry, then pass. If MSL puts them together he needs to sit Slaf down, tell him his role is to always shoot then crash the net. Otherwise it won’t work out.

He can ease my insecurities by being a productive hockey player in any league in which he finds himself - NHL, AHL, Liiga, it's all good. But if he continues his draft year trend and still can't produce despite his many tools, he has bad hockey IQ and is unlikely to ever produce.

Will also depends on who plays RW - Anderson would complement Dach-Slaf duo to fill that net crasher need

I bet he was singing the same tune with Caufield last year after scoring 1 goal in 23 games.......some posters I tell ya
The thing is, even know Caufield wasn't scoring, everything was all too apparent and people knew it'd translate to the NHL. He was always more of a sure thing imo. His game sense was good too.

Not sure if you're aware...but the NHL, AHL seasons haven't begun.

Additionally, his job as a player is not to ease your insecurities, his job is to develop as a hockey player at HIS PACE. Not yours, or mine.

His draft year hasn't even had the opportunity to have a trend yet.

Games played by players drafted in 2022 - 0 games.

Don't comment on the player until after the season ends, SVP, because I say so!

I wasn't implying that Slaf had Jagr potential, simply that his supporters claimed puck protection, particularly using his body like Jagr, was among his strongest assets. Clearly the Slaf hype train was driven by people who hadn't seen him play.

I don't see any reason to rush him into the NHL when he is showing less than Owen Beck who has zero chance of making the team out of camp. I am not saying he is a bust, just that in the long run it would be more beneficial for Slaf to not start in the NHL this year.

Main thing I gathered from that game is he needs to work on cardio, which is normal for an 18 yo
