Canadian boys absolutely burying the Swiss about 6 massive hits since that cheap boarding non-penalty. Should have clearly been called.

They woke up a sleeping giant with anger since that boarding hit the Swiss guy did.

Canada playing very physical and nasty right now as well with skill.

That was all on Zellweger. Lesson learned there.
It's an icing when the whistle goes. If there's no whistle, you gotta keep playing. He didn't and put himself in a vulnerable position.

The Swiss problem isn't Canada, it's discipline. Has been all tournament long. They're very good 5vs5 until they start taking penalties and then it goes south. Too many dumb penalties like the 2nd one vs Othmann, the too many men and also too many needless ones taken in the neutral or offensive zone. Since they played yesterday, there was obviously no chance vs Canada once they started taking penalties. Tanks are empty.

Besides Pinelli, McTavish and Clarke who have been good all tournament long, I don't even think that this is a great effort from Canada. Lots of players very much underwhelming. Guenther and Bedard quiet as always, despite their goals. Othmann still inefficient offensively, Stillman and Stankoven not as noticeable as in previous games. Score could be much higher by now.

Looking at the Swiss team, surely Bichsel and Sidler are the positive surprises while I expected much more from Biasca and certainly Reichle. Very disappointing season for Reichle.

Btw, these announcers are horrible. They don't even recognize French or Italian names. Shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Finally. Was a bit of luck involved there but he didn't have much this year so far. Has been pressing a bit too hard lately so this one should hopefully help him settle down.

He’s a high event player. Throws big hits, takes big hits, draws penalties, always around the play.

I really like him as a player, not sure of his full upside but he’s a pesky player that can play with other skill players as a complimentary winger. He’s high on my list for a guy I want the Oilers to target in the draft. Cossa will likely be gone. Stankoven and Pinelli are other guys that I like.

The Swiss had some good chances now but more undisciplined play for the Swiss. 5 on 3 for Canada now. This coach has no control of his team. The Swiss keep taking legitimate penalties.

I like that but monster D man for the Swiss, Bichshel I think his name is?

Absolute penalty parade for this swiss tonight.

Mctavish already rocking a decent beard. The guy is going to be a complete boar by the time hes 30.

They’ve been legitimate calls too, just horribly undisciplined.

6-0 Canada now

Edit: Make that 7-0 now. Stillman puts in the rebound in the air off the Pinelli shot. Big game for Pinelli

Yeah. Played 4 NL games for Biel already and if he continues to progress like this, he should be one of the top defensemen in next years draft.

Barring any surprises, I think Dallas is gonna take Othmann so could be a difficult mission for the Oilers. Great player already but clearly needs time to round out his offense.

Not just tonight. It's the standart this tournament. And most penalties are completely avoidable and by no means taken when under pressure. Curious. Their special teams are horrible too and that makes it even worse. 5vs5, it's actually a very good team. They just keep on crippling themselves.

Really liked Bischel’s game.

Massive, physical, and a good skater for a guy his size. Thought he was Switzerland’s best player. He opened my eyes this game, I’ll be following him going forward. He’s a player and a guy I’d take on my team all day long. Love the mean streak he has as well.

For Othmann, hopefully he’s still there. Not sure his full NHL upside but he’s a guy that is a total pain in the ass to play against. Seems like a high floor type player, not sure what his offensive upside is either but he seems to me like a good complimentary winger that just drags his teammates into the fight.

I’d be good with any of Cossa, Stankoven, Othmann, or Pinelli for the Oilers. Big fan of Othmann though.

Bichsel had a good season and an even better tournament so far so it's not just this game he played well.

Regarding Othmann, I expected to see more from him offensively this tournament. I'm a bit disappointed so far but not worried. I think he just can't quite meet his own expectations and he's trying a bit too hard on offense. Would he play a more simple game, his offensive output would be much better now.

His discipline and 200 foot game improved a lot lately and looks to be fine now but his decision making on offense needs to improve. I think it was against Latvia when he took that one timer from an impossible angle on the PP, may even have been a 5vs3. Would have been the goal of the tournament but you never see this shot taken in the NHL or other top pro leagues. Shot selection has been a problem for him this season. I think it's also a direct result of him not having much luck offensively after a rather hot start. So I think if he gets that sorted there is some untapped offensive potential. His offense needs a lot of work but he's got a great shot and good hands. I agree that he's got a very high floor just because of his great shot, his allround game, his physicality and his ability to piss people off.

So I assume he has been playing a bit injured?

No idea.
But team manager Kimmo Oikarinen was said something '' health comes first'' stuff.
What that means no idea. But it could've been anything of these 4 scenarios.

Scenario 1 just a precaution because meaningless game and avoiding injuries might've been priority
Scenario 2 Covid-19 infections inside to the team
Scenario 3 Covid-19 exposures or symptoms inside to the team
Scenario 4 nagging injuries.
.

Great effort by Strömgren: blocks the shot, skates the other way with it to get a one on one with the goalie, and scores.
