How much is Semien worth in the off-season? He is going to be 31 in Sept. 25M x 5 years? Something like that? What would it take to lock him up?

Contract year:
Springer (turning 31): 11.3 fWAR in 1398 PAs
Semien (turning 31): 13.4 fWAR in 1459 PAs

Springer has a better track record but Semien has a better contract year and then some.

Springer also plays a hard position and 2B don’t get paid much. Semien can say he can still play SS which is true but there are other SS available with not many big markets needing SS nor have the money; Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Mets.

Correra, Semien, Seager, and Story are FAs. I can see one maybe going to Philly, 1 to the Rangers and maybe Correra goes back to Houston. Angels are a threat too. Twins may take a run at Semien again but I doubt they offer enough.

That being said if I’m Semien’s agent I’m asking for the Springer contract. Semien probably gets $100-$150M over 5-6 years IMO.
