Both the Rangers and Jays last playoff appearance was 2016. Rangers are nowhere near the playoffs anytime soon. Nice to see the Jays turnaround has been quick and effective

Jays made the playoffs last year but I know what you mean.

Look at the 10 teams who made the playoffs in 2016. Boston, Baltimore, Cleveland, Texas, Mets, Nationals, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants and Toronto.

Outside of the Dodgers the Jays are in the 2nd best position in terms of window, payroll flexibility, today’s team and farm system. Many don’t realize how well Shapiro and Atkins have done so far.

2 Jays wins today and an Oakland loss means the Jays are 2.5 GBs of the WC. 6th best run differential in the league and 11th best record.

Jays 6 GBs back of the Red Sox with the best run differential in the division.

McGuire hasn't done jack shit in weeks and he still gets good playing time.

Im going to give Montoyo the benefit of the doubt and hope that he is only keeping McGuire in to hopefully show case Reese to a rebuilding team in need of a backup catcher. Teams may be offering nothing for him knowing that the Jays have to waive him to get him back into the minors and with Kirk healthy they know the Jays want to do it ASAP.

Perhaps management is hoping he gives you a few good games and they can throw him in a deal to grab a player at the deadline or maybe for a player with options or a prospect.

At worst Reese for future considerations is better than losing him for nothing.

But if Reese is on this team in a few weeks and even worse, past the deadline then i have no reasonable rationale.

I was scared to look up his recent stats and I thought it would be slightly better than that.

Meanwhile in his last 31 plate appearances (same number as the McGuire sample), Jansen is slashing .320/.419/.640 and has homered in back-to-back games.

Why are they pitching to Verdugo instead of walking him to set up the double play?

Edit - Verdugo has an OPS over 200 points higher against RHP than the RH Renfroe who is next up.

Edit 2 - well, he walks anyway.

Edit 3 - oops.
