Nah the real problem is having a runner at 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs and not scoring. That's baseball 101. You got to score at least one there and you really don't need to avoid bad calls to do so.
Oh, absolutely. Grichuk's AB was horrible and the real real real real root problem is putting a player slumping that badly 5th in the order. If Gurriel or Biggio is there the team gets a far better AB.
I'm just talking about that play in a vacuum. Gurriel and Hernandez reacted like they thought it was a foul ball. If the Jays aren't convinced on a non-reviewable play, there's no way the umps will side with them. If Gurriel immediately turns and starts waiving in Hernandez, I'm convinced that would have been a run. But Gurriel actually did tip it and was being honest or had one of the biggest brain farts imaginable and forgot that the WP would cash the runner.
