True story: I once played against a guy who in this *exact* scenario did what Vladdy did but shattered his hand hitting the infield dirt.

That totally looked like a terrible call.

The problem is that Gurriel reacted like he tipped it. If he missed it, surely he would have been waiving the runner home?

Bucknor was rattled hard. Sanchez immediately checked that he was okay. Gurriel acted like he fouled it.

Bad call, but I can see in this situation why it was a dead ball.

Even after the win, expect complaints/accusations around:

- Gerrit Cole's lack of K's
- Gerrit Cole having difficulty seeing the signs a few times

Because you know... Yankees

Yup, Gurriel's reaction is the problem.

Either he did tip it or he was asleep at the switch.

Nah the real problem is having a runner at 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs and not scoring. That's baseball 101. You got to score at least one there and you really don't need to avoid bad calls to do so.

That play on Gurriel should have been reviewable, from the umps. Theres no way any of 4 of them could tell, especially the guy behind the plate who is looking at 100mph. That run should absolutely count.
