Great to see Nate back..that was a scary inning of pitching...Fast ball all over the place and a sprinkle of a slider and curve...neither seemed to have much bite.. Maybe he will throw them more second time through.

Bit of a rough start but he settled down towards the end of the inning.

Tall order too given the Astros are a pain in the ass to actually sit down

The worst part of this is that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

He tries to be too fine, gets himself into holes, needs to be fine to get out of it without giving up an easy hit or walk, gives up said hit or walk, and thinks "see what happens if I don't execute perfectly? I have to be better." and the cycle repeats.

Could have been worse. Pearson isn't lasting in this league if he can't locate his pitches nevermind living up to his potential.

He made the mess and mostly got himself out of it.

Could have been a hell of a lot worse given that was the beef of the Astros order but credit where it's due.

Ideally he doesn't go past the 3rd though. It's clear he's in his own head a bit

Exactly. If this guy would just get ahead of these hitters he'd be gold.

For as bad as Nate has been, we're lucky he's only given up 1 run. Now it's time to turn it around and pitch like he can

How many major league starts has he made?

The answer: not nearly enough to make any assumptions
Oh I'm not worried yet. I was just talking more in terms of reality.
Honestly it looks more because he's nervous.

He's trying to paint the corner on every pitch. I get why he's doing that but you just can't expect to do it every time since it's such a small window you give yourself.

The potential is there though. Ridiculous change in velocity between offspeed and fastball. The foundation is built, now it just needs the walls or so to speak
