I wonder what Vlad's contract will be? Not that it will matter because he will be a Jay for the long haul.

i would love somebody like trea turner on this team, imagine a burner like him with a good avg. at the top of the lineup distracting pitchers, i know hes a SS but man i can dream.

1 year ~6.5 million in arbitration/settlement next year
1 year ~12 million in arbitration/settlement the year after
1 year ~20 million in arbitration/settlement the year after

At that point you might see something other than arbitration/settling just prior when he has just 1 year of team control left. The Jays don't have any reason to risk paying max value now when they can use the process and see later and Vladdy doesn't have any reason to settle for less now.

Yes, Baltimore should bring in Eric Hanhold. They might finally mange to get a foot hold in this game

Personally wouldn't want to go with Arbitration for Vladdy all the way along. I want him locked up before the talk of free agency becomes a real thing. Arbitration next year and then start the talks on a long term deal.

WOOHOO! I've never seen a game where the Jays scored 20 runs.

You're applying standard practice, which is still a matter of leverage often levied unto inexperienced players, to a very exceptional situation, one where the young player in question could easily get a 20+ million contract no matter where he went. Unless there is some kind of rule that specifically prevents it, in all likelihood Vladdy will be looking for the same raise Donaldson got when he won the MVP. Whether he gets it or not is an entirely different discusion, but he will ask for it. That's what agents are paid to do (and they want their cuts). That's why you see players get big contracts when they're still young. There's no benefit to going through arbitration if the young player is going to get a big contract anyway. Might as well lock them up before they repeat their performance and increase their ask to 30 million.
