I simply don't get Dickerson in the 1 hole
Nobody does. Hes maybe the last guy who should be getting the most at-bats. If you dont wanna use Semien in that spot, use any of Teo,Kirk,Gurriel etc. Plenty of options with the depth we have.

It's ridiculous.

Semien is great in the leadoff spot. Should be the easiest thing to just bump everyone up but instead for some reason they're giving one of their worst hitters the most ABs in order to 'leave guys in their spot' as if that really matters much at all.

Man, you feel that these missed opportunities against a rookie who can't throw strikes will come back to haunt them.

Missed opportunity might come back and bite them later. At least the kid is almost done for the night with 70 pitches

The Bichette aggressiveness is great, but he really needs to know his spot to go for it. Just a really bad at bat when you know a guy can't get strikes.

Does Tabler not understand that being at 40 pitches in the 3rd with one out isnt a high pitch count? 15 pitches an inning is what you aim for, and hes right around that figure.

Bichette’s power has completely disappeared since the start of August. Something like 1 HR in his last 40 games.

I don’t think Nolan Ryan was ‘pitching’ and ‘commanding the zone’ when he was walking 200 batters/season but Buck has apparently forgotten that he played against guys like this.

All he remembers is that he played with George Brett.

That was such a "back in my day" old man moment. Call me crazy, but you've still gotta throw strikes to pitch in the majors. Higher velocity doesn't equal less control then guys from 30 years ago.

The challenge with getting the green light in that scenario is that you figure one of the next three pitches is probably a ball - so great chance that if you stand there you're getting a base (and a run, and another batter up). But once you swing, even a ball that you make good contact on doesn't necessarily drop in or go over the fence.

So for me I like as few swings as possible once a guy totally loses command. I'm fine with a strikeout looking if it means guys are going up with an idea.

Edit: although devils advocate, Teo really seemed to be up there being patient so that's the guy I'd be more inclined to let pick a pitch and pull the trigger

It's times like these that you're so very excited that Montoyo put Dickerson in the leadoff spot
