Jeter has made hundreds of millions and slept with every attractive woman in showbiz despite being a weird looking dude. Let's not pretend that ARod wouldn't have done shit without being a freak athlete. I'm not even taking sides here, it's just laughable that people think Arod is some mogule. Hes a moron with half a billion to blow.

maybe the best post ever, i am unable to shhhhhhh...

I still think Semien should be at 3rd or SS. Bo is very sketchy at SS and thinks he's Jeter. Semien is/was an excellent defensive SS.
Maybe Semien would change his tune on playing 3B next year if we commit to him long term and he gets his big contract of 100+ million. Id imagine a big part of him not wanting to play 3B was because he was in a contract year. I’d still want Ramirez/Chapman at 3B first though but it might not be a bad back up option to have Semien play 3B and Biggio at 2B where he doesn’t suck.

Can we start calling him Captain Kirk, now?

Can I get Cameron Diaz to feed me popcorn at the Super Bowl too?

Bo should be a full time 2b, he doesn't have the arm strength for SS at MLB. Imo give him the mega contract, then move him. If they move him before the long term deal there is no way he resigns.

I think Biggio is basically going to become Mark DeRosa. Can't do anything great but a lot of things good.

There’s a decent chance we don’t sign Semien but sign Correa instead.

I'd be shocked.

Correa is going to get one of those 12 year/$400 million type deals that really only like 3-4 teams can afford. Probably to the Yankees.

We are theoretically one of those teams. Plus Springer is already here, he can sell it to Correa.

The team has never shown any inclination toward that type of contract.

$150 million for Springer was a huge commitment and we're talking well over double that.

I wouldn't say it's *impossible*, but I'd be pretty blown away.

The Yankees/Dodgers are on a different planet with these sorts of deals. They can hand out $350 million to Giancarlo Stanton and it doesn't hurt them a bit even if the player totally flops.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if Corey Seager is brought in and shifted to 2B/3B. He hasn't been dominant since 2017, is frequently injured, but is still a high-level player. Will only be 28 next season so his age fits.

Personally, I'd prefer they find a way to keep Semien, have Bichette continue to work on his defence, and find a 2022 Semien-like contract (which is maybe that's where a Seager could come into play). Take it slow with Biggio until he's completely healthy and use him and Espinal as the bench bats.

I think it’s possible. But then again I don’t think it’d necessarily take 12/400 to do it either.

I'd be surprised if it didn't take something at least very close.

Correa is 2nd in MLB in WAR for position players and one of the youngest free agents ever.

Bryce Harper got $330 million at roughly the same age coming off a 1.8 WAR season. Stanton got $325 million. Trout got $425 million. Best comp might be Lindor who playing the same position at the exact same age got 10/341 post-COVID coming off a poor season.

Correa's deal is going to be absolutely f***ing massive. Probably top-3 ever in terms of total dollars committed.

Maybe, but then you have to see if the teams capable of offering that kind of money actually have a hole at SS/2B.

Yankees have money tied up in LeMahieu and I don’t think they’re ready to give up on Torres. Plus I think they’re more likely to spend money on pitching.

Dodgers could but they could also stick with Seager/Turner again and spend the money on pitching instead.

the Blue Jays have given up the fewest wild pitches in baseball.

*insert Buck ranting about how it'd be even fewer if catchers stopped catching on one knee*

Second straight game that Dickerson playing leadoff immediately goes out only for subsequent runners to get in scoring position when there should be 0 outs if the team was using the correct batting order with Semien at leadoff and everyone else moved up.

Torres has been awful (0.6 WAR this year, 0.0 last year) and NYY will fire him out of a cannon if they can get their hands on Correa.

The richest team in baseball has a huge hole at SS with one of the top 3 SS in baseball hitting free agency at a very young age. I'd virtually guarantee they put in a huge offer for Correa.

Gil's fastball is pretty straight. Slider is always down and away to righties. Need to lay off anything away. Hopefully they figure it out the 2nd time through the order.

I think you've gotta sit slider against Gil. His fastball seems to be all over the place. Hes trying to throw that slider for strikes.
