I've liked what I've seen from Caufield, Turcotte, Faber, Thrun, and Wolf.

Welp, this team feels like mostly every other past USA team. We just continue to underachieve, whereas countries like Finland always seem to overachieve. Defense is a liability to say the least.

For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t break up Boldy-Beniers-Caufield. I’d try Zegras-Turcotte-Brink/Brisson

Overall a garbage performance, but at least the team showed life in 3rd and clawed back into it. When your team barely shows up and your goalie keeps gifting the puck and/or goals to the other team, it's going to be hard to win.

Wolf should be the starting goalie. Knight was bad in the exhibition and even worse tonight. He doesn't deserve more time to figure it out.

Boldy was our best player tonight. His puck control down low was phenomenal. York was mostly good, but had a couple of costly gaffes.

PP breakout and setup needs some major work. They seemed surprised that Russia was pressuring the puck on the PK.

There was no call, but Slaggert is probably getting a game for his late hit on Podkolzin.

A lot of talk from Leaman about line shuffling, etc., but I certainly didn't see enough of it tonight.

I'd like to see Turcotte and Zegras split up, more minutes for Brisson, less minutes for Brink

Ferraro said Knight should start vs Austria, I disagree, Wolf played well tonight and deserves the start

I'd like to see Zegras away from Turcotte. Let them both carry a line. I didn't notice either of them all game until Zegras scored and that can't happen. Their line was outclassed and playing catchup all night. Does anyone know Turcotte's face off stats?

That last faceoff sucked.

Turcotte wasn’t noticeable but I still saw him doing a lot of really good things away from the puck.

His thought process is puzzling. He finally get's a line starting to churn chances in Z-Turcotte-CC, but then he goes back to switching Kaliyev for CC and both lines go invisible after CC was actually playing well. I don't understand...

Turcotte was 6 for 15 on faceoffs and was -3. Probably why the whole line didn't have the puck the entire game. That whole line sucked.

I think he lost the one on the PP prior as well, and that delayed them pulling Wolf. I could be wrong, but that also could explain why that line was playing defense the entire night.

Edit: I see your post above. Yikes. Zegras and Kaliyev need the puck to be effective, so it all makes more sense now.

Turcotte was 6 / 15 on faceoffs. The team in general only won 39%, which was a huge issue. You can't consistently let a team that predicates their style on puck possession have the puck so much at each starting point.

I hope they give Knight another shot vs Austria, mostly for my drafts sake, while that last goal was terrible for him, you can't really blame him for the 3rd goal when Sanderson gave the puck away in the open slot.
