2021 Spengler Cup

2 of my fav Czech prospects will be there.. Spacek for Frolunda and Kase for Sparta! Stansky for Davos too!
 
But the Spengler Cup is a very "special" competition. I wouldn't be surprised if Frölunda played poorly there.
 
Harri Pesonen, Jesper Olofsson and Valtteri Filppula will reinforce HC Davos for the spengler cup. I think Davos gonna be tough to beat. Gonna be interesting for sure.

unfortunately for the Spengler Cup viewers, Edvinsson will be in WJC during this time.

Canada names Devan Dubnyk and David Desnarhais to their Spengler roster.
Interestingly, Canada is also going to the Channel One cup, and has named different players to the roster for that tournament.

Sparta is improving and has a pretty good roster going into this. Curious how they do.

I'd say you're right, but with that in mind I would have thought they would take roughly the same roster to the Channel One cup and Spengler. Unless they see both as evaluation opportunities to pick a final team
 
Sparta maybe cannot play because of quarantine rules. They'd have to do 10 days of quarantine in front of the Spengler Cup which just isn't possible.
 
This is currently in discussion, yes. Decision until end of the week, I heard.

But with the new variant, rising numbers in hospital and new rules on the table I also could see a cancellation of the tournament as a possibility.

I hope Canada staff dont overlook SHL as they always do. Its second best league in Europe after KHL and it has great pace.

Matt Tomkins, Max Véronneau, Adam Tambellini, Lance Bouma, Eric Gelinas. Are some of the canadians in SHL that should be tested in Channel One cup or Spengler Cup.

Its good news that Max Friberg is back from his scary injury. He and Joel Lundqvist is the heart of Frölunda. They are playing hard and physical EVERY game.

Keep an eye on Ryan Lasch aswell. Super skilled even with NHL-standards, but too weak for NHL.

Another player Davos just brougt in is Fora. Defender who was captain in Ambri-Piotta. Davos is loaded. If they get Brome back its almost unfair.

Potentially:

Pesonen - Filppula - Stransky
Brome - Rasmussen - Olofsson
Pospisil - Corvi - Ambuhl
Nussbaumer - Simic - Prassl/Weiser/Schmutz

Lasu aswell. Lots of heart, physical and pure bred winner.

Anyone know if the Spengler will be aired in Canada? Miss the sun shining on the ice during afternoon games, but more tickets sold is always good.
