Does this make sense for our pick selections?

Round 1 Pick #8 (TBD Pre-Lottery - Kings)

Round 2 Pick #40 (Kings)
Round 2 Pick #50 (Blues)

Round 3 Pick #72 (Kings)
Round 3 Pick #91 - #96 (TBD Leafs)

Round 4 Pick #109 (Calgary)

Round 5 Pick #136 (Kings)

Round 6 Pick #168 (Kings)

Round 7 - No pick

Just saw an interesting dobberprospect mock draft. Anaheim goes #1, Devils #2.

1. Ana- Beniers
2. NJD- Eklund
3. Buff- Powers
4. Sea- Hughes
5. Clbs- Johnson
6. Drw- Wallstedt
7. SJ- Raty (odd)
8. LA- Clarke

12. Guenther
13. Edmisson talk about drops

I want to like Dobber, but I can never make it more than a couple minutes through their podcast before thinking "these guys don't know as much as they think they do."

I wouldn't be mad if the Kings packaged some combo of our seconds and thirds together for a future first. We might need it more a few years from now.

That's probably a move you'd be more likely to see out of the NFL Draft but not in the NHL. Off the top of my head, I can't remember a draft day trade that involved a future 1st which wasn't revolved around an established NHL player.

That would be a big drop for Guenther and Clarke IMO

it is nice because we are at the point of supplementing an already great prospect pool. I know they say best player available but there may be 8 to 10 guys that are almost equal. If we do make the pick and not trade it Blake and co can actually imagine who this puck may pair with.

I would love a Guenther or Clarke to pair with Byfield

Love Dobbers site for fantasy hockey purposes and all the data available.

Jeebus, they didn't have Edvinsson even inside the top 10?

Pretty sure he'll remain outside of mine.

From what I have read and watched, most recently the U-18's, I would slot him inside the top 10. Seems like he could go anywhere from 3-8.

It's an interesting draft overall due to COVID and the limitations in actually getting to see all these kids play competitive games this past season and a bit.

On mine and multiple major scouting services. At @8 I would be remotely be upset if we drafted him yet he is just outside my top 10 personally. I'd also be inclined to take Lambos over Edvinsson personally. Ideally and not really unrealistic we have Clarke drop to #8 as doubt Hughes or Powers drop that far.

I would be interested in trading with Columbus for their two late 1st plus something else for our first and give our scouts the spotlight.

If we are throwing darts I want a lot of darts to throw. Maybe the extra could be the right to swap 1st round picks in either 22 or 23.

That rarely works out. Quantity doesn't usually equate to quality.

usually I agree, but this draft is a little different. I think we will look back 10 years from this draft and see a bunch of later round guys who should have gone top of the draft. Revisionist on this one (and maybe next) will be crazy.

I trust the development staff enough to mold him defensively, so I wouldn't be upset. I would feel there are better picks. I wrote an article summarizing my thoughts on MM:

2021 NHL Draft Preview: Defenseman Simon Edvinsson, Sweden

If that’s the case I hope the Kings trade all of their picks so I won’t have to read the hundreds of coulda woulda shoulda posts.

Knowing the Kings we will get another Forbort or Teubert. We know how well the Kings do drafting defenseman early.

Speaking of...

In 2003, the Red Wings offered the rest of their draft, from round 2 on, for the Kings second round pick.

Like LA, Detroit wanted Konstantin Pushkarev.

LA said no.

Surprisingly, we have not had all the 'what if' questions surrounding that.

But we have heard plenty who was picked after Pushkarev. The following 5 picks after him were:
Patrice Bergeron
Dan Fritsche
Matt Carle
Dmitri Chernykh
Shea Weber

Other picks in the 2nd round after him were: Corey Crawford, Maxim Lapierre, Patrick O'Sullivan, David Backes

Big reveal in the next half hour:

Last year it shook the top-10 with Sanderson jumping big with a couple more in the 10-20 spots.

This will likely trigger some updates on most of the rankings from the independent sector.

Will be fun to see how it shakes out.

Nice stats Mats. Because the Coyotes lost their 1st rounder (would of been 11th or so), I believe the Kings picks from round 2 on will be reduced by 1. So in the 2nd round, the Kings will be picking 39 and 49.

And 5 picks in the first 100 selections. Pretty impressive.

Mason Mctavish is this year's Sanderson

Wow, one of this years shake ups is they have McTavish at 2nd overall, after Power.
