If this was the best deal out there and they determined Buch was not coming back, it is what it is

Alright Bottom 6 depth you don't have to pay out the nose for salary wise, fine, but this is just a bad trade all around. This can't be the best offer.

I'd probably rather have the 2nd next year than the 1st this year as this draft is rotten asscheeks if we're using the picks, but if you're looking to move picks for a player you're always going to get more hits on something that can be used immediately rather than a year from now.

It's probably the best offer when you consider they have an insane, irrational mandate to get "tougher to play against."

Good players? Nah.

Grinders who can't do anything else, that's what we need here.

Can't help but recall that Sather is the one with the weird ass fetish for tough guys and we all know the last admin got run out of town at his behest for not having enough grit on the roster.

If this is the direction the team is heading, this is abysmal.

Would’ve rather just kept Buch and let him walk at this point. Drury is making rookie moves right now.

Ok, maybe, but not much better. He was a tweener player. Yeah he's got a bit of a mean steak but a bit of a lack of discipline too.
 
Jeff Gorton is currently sitting in his house laughing that we traded a top line forward for a 4th liner and a pick

This is kinda where I'm at. Was never really a Buch fan and was okay moving on from him. But for a guy who was just left exposed in the Expansion Draft a few days ago? Not feeling this one.

Buch deserves more than being a salary dump for Eichel. Completely outrageous.
If this eventual Sabres trade is a fleecing I'm going to have to take a walk or something because I'm going to be livid.

Zero.

I don't dislike Drury, I just also don't but into the hype around him either.

I've always felt that the NHL was desperate to turn him into Captain America and that for as good as he is/was, the hype was overstated.

I will continue to hope for a different outcome as an executive, but also have seen signs of the same thing happening in his second career. So far, my mind has not changed.
