Can Hoven be sending smoke signals? Sure. If I think it’s more than possible, as a ploy to get Adams to lower his price for Eichel.

With that said, I have a good feeling that Adams is refusing to move from Byfield and that’s why LA said they’re out. All of the GM’s know about Eichel’s NMC. They know Adams is on the clock. It’s a game of chicken.

LA is also in on multiple players so it makes for a weird situation for them. Any one move potentially closes off two or three others.

For example, while they are lurking in the background on Eichel, they've also inquired about Reinhart. Likewise, they've been linked to Buch.

If Vancouver listens to offers on Miller, and there is belief they will, they'll likely kick the tires there as well.

They're one of the teams I would particularly keep an eye on right now.

Any thoughts about this Colton Dach? A 6’4 center ranked around 19th overall

good example of how all over the place this year's draft projections/rankings are

these rankings are cited at EliteProspects,
all except NHL Bureau, have him much lower,
no sooner than 2nd 1/2 2nd round
(Note that NHL rankings separate NA from International,
so even they don't actually have him at top 20 'overall'

Colton Dach at eliteprospects.com
NHL Draft Prospect eligible for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft
Rankings
Ranked #100 by FCHOCKEY
Ranked #57 by MCKEEN'S HOCKEY
Ranked #19 by NHL CENTRAL SCOUTING (NA Skaters)
Ranked #50 by DRAFT PROSPECTS HOCKEY
Ranked #73 by SMAHT SCOUTING
Ranked #73 by TSN/McKenzie

He's a tough one to peg.

Coming into the season, he was seen as more of a third round pick candidate who had strong goal scoring instincts, but was very raw in a lot of areas --- skating, creating offense on his own, etc. He was seen as doing a lot of things well, but not necessarily any thing great.

And then you have this season where he was a point per game player, albeit in a relatively small sample size. That drew some attention, and shot him up the CSB rankings. It'll be interesting to see how that's reflected in McKenzie's survey.

There are still some mixed opinions on how much was a product of his doing, and how much is him being a good fit for his environment and role. For those who see him as an emerging option, you can't rule him out as a potential pick in the second half of the first. For others, I'd say he's probably more of a second round candidate.

with rankings all over the place i wonder if a 6’4 Center with a brother in the NHL is a good risk.

Weird that they have Pinelli, Chibrikov, Svechkov and ZLH all below No. 25...

Trade back might be a real good option!!

Not too into Johnson, TBH...
Any particular reason?

He reminds me of Newhook based on what I've seen and heard.

Johnson at 15 would be fine. Not sure he is top 10 unless he can stay at C, but if he is at 15 I’m going to assume he would be the top player left on my board.

Plays just like his brother, but not at the same pace. Might be a late bloomer, but I wouldn't take him in until the 3rd round.

ok ty - rankings are all over the place. It's that #19 ranking which raised my eyebrows. Kinda wondering who or which ranking is correct. Is he the late bloomer at only age 18 while Raty peaked at age 16?

With Covid and fewer eyes, who knows what's out there? At 6'4 i'm thinking, well that's a certainty. With a need at center and so many prospects i wonder if this is the year to roll the dice.

Great feedback so ty

To me, he's like the next Turris. Does fantastic things around him, but at a pro-level might be quite inconsistent. I feel being on a stacked Wolverines team he should've propelled further. He kind of just stayed as the complementary piece while Beniers and Power took their games to the next level.

I wouldn't mind him at No. 15, just think he's a risk. He's not a center in the pros either.

There's going to be a lot of those questions and concerns throughout this whole class.

Was this discussed yet? Kent Johnson at 15?

I’d take him. He’s not going to be a center but he’s got massive talent if he hits his ceiling. Could be the best pure goal scorer of the draft. No way I expect him there at 15 though. Someone will grab him earlier on boom or bust potential

The CSB ranks North American skaters separately from European skaters and North American goalies and European goalies. The other draft sites rank all draft eligibles together. I wouldn’t get too swept away by Dach being ranked 19th among North American skaters by the CSB. I don’t think there’s much chance Dach is taken in the 1st round. If he is it’ll be a bit of a shock.
