I like Svechkov, natural Center, good in the dot, battles allover for pucks, and his offensive game is underrated. He's also bigger than what he's being listed at.

He should definitely be in the conversation at 15, along with 5 or 6 others who have a legit chance at making it to our pick.

I don't think it has the depth of 2018, 2019 or 2020. The timing of those drafts and the Rangers re-stock was quite fortuitous.

Having said that, I don't know if this is a weak draft for certain yet. I think there's more mystery to it, but there's some intriguing options as well.

At 15, names I heard previously - Sillinger, McTavish, Raty, Bolduc, Pinelli, Chibrikov, Svechkov, Bourgault. Of those I would probably underline McTavish for the Rangers. I also would not completely rule out Wallstedt.

I always like guys with plus shots, something this team lacked until recently. I don't know if McTavish makes it to our spot. Any thoughts on his skating? I like him but I also think we need to come away with a plus skating center with our pick.

Sounds like he is a good compliment to the wingers we have.

I don't know if I'd consider many of the names to be speed demons per se. I think Chibrikov is a hell of a skater though, albeit not at center.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that I think he’s going to be fair game in the teens. I’ve heard of at least several teams that are quite high on him - including our boys. If you’re looking for a guy with decently high floor and the potential to become an important middle six contributor, Svechkov is right in that conversation.

Personally I have him at least in the same debate as someone like Raty.

Great news if true!! Svechkov has a dominating presence on the ice. Highly underrated center option.

Yeah, i think some others may have higher potential (see: Chibrikov, Nikita) but the 2 players i've really zoned in where the Rangers pick are Svechkov & Raty. Both smart, quick Centers w/ a good defensive game, with 2C ceilings if they put things together but probably still NHLers if they don't

Chibrikov will be risky, for sure, but that risk could be bust or Kucherov-like. That's pretty steep, but man if it booms...

I agree Svechkov and Raty should be the options at 15. Raty, I feel, is trending toward potentially not going in the 1st round. Which is odd to say, going from the consensus No. 1 overall at the start of the year and ultimately not going in the 1st round. Goes to show the weakness this draft is. I would still take him at 15, though. Again, I feel he just had a bad year.

For some reason, I'm seeing Brandt Clarke slide down the consensus rankings. If he is somehow available in the 10-15 range, I think I would trade up for him. Think he's the best player in this class!!

Energy guy that will work his ass off. Skating a non-issue, IMO.

Fastest skater in the draft, by far, is Lysell. Clarke I would say is No. 2...

If by some miracle he or Wallstedt were around at 15, grab and do not think twice.

If the Rangers finish in the top 2, who do the Rangers select?

I’d have to imagine they opt for Beniers if he’s available. That being said, Power was the consensus 1st overall ranked prospect on McKenzie’s latest ranking, and we all know the Rangers are one of the teams that give him information.

I’ve been a fan of Beniers for a while, so he’d be my consensus top player in this draft. I’ve also really liked Eklund this season too, but I wouldn’t take him 1st or 2nd.

A little off topic, but I was watching some videos from the under 18 championships and... this kid Matvei Michkov isn't eligible until the 2023 draft? Surely he must be in consideration for 1 overall that year.

Clarke was not overly flashy or dominant at the U18s but he was still very solid, he won't fall far.

Does Lysell play any RW? I think he did at the U18'S.

I call up the Kraken and ask for their 1sts in '22 and '23 !

How does, if at all, Svechkov compare to Anton Lundell from last year's draft? They seem to have similar scouting reports.

Lundell has legit 1C potential and would score a ton along with his defensive prowess. Svechkov seems to be more in the middle 6/bottom 6, but will have a good knack for the defensive, too.

So I guess Lundell-lit, but I think they shouldn't be compared. Svechkov, ATM, reminds me of Nichushkin...

That's going to be a crazy year of draft watching. Michkov/Bedard will be the 2020's version of McDavid/Eichel!!

Yeah, thought he did. I just love Lysell's ability to just blow by players and come in on a breakaway against the keeper. Beautiful to see!!

Thanks for your assessment. Was curious.

Can’t say zero% chance Rangers don’t win because they literally have a 1% chance. However, I will say that I am 100% certain they don’t win. Of course though if I had to make the pick Power without hesitation. If I didn’t, trade down for Beniers without a doubt. Is this a useless exercise in futility? 99%.
