wow that is high, everything ive seen has him 5-10Think Beniers has a real chance at No. 1, especially with the movement of the pre-season rankings.

Can't tell... is his name pronounced Lah-Roo? or Lay-Hew-Roo? I've heard multiple variations, but just want to be sure. I think it's Lah-Roo, lolol.
On my brief viewings, he seems like a solid, two-way forward. Jonathan Toews-lit?

Agreed, plus we will have a few contracts off the books and a few young guys playing this season so we'll have a better idea of who we should be targeting. I'm all for being really aggressive next offseason.Probably a good draft to trade 1st round picks for if there is a guy you really want to make a deal.
i dont disagree i just think thats really high for the kid....i guess this is just a much weaker class then the past few years....still think its powers at the top but a lot can changeMost rankings should be taken with a grain of salt this year. A good portion of the class hasn't played a game yet.
There's going to be a lot of changes come July...

I mean, yeah. IMO Brandt Clarke is the No. 1, but he just started playing recently (has 3 games in so far with Nove Zamky). Power is a good candidate, but after that who else has deserved those accolades? Wallstedt? Geunther hasn't played and neither has McTavish. Carson Lambos, who was starting the year in the top 5 is now playing U20 in Liiga and is... meh. Hughes and Johnson have looked good, but not nearly as game-changing as Beniers, ATM.
I mean we'll see, but Beniers has shown to take his game to the NCAA and succeeding. He now has had a successful WJC. So, yeah, with the draft in July and it already being January, I can absolutely see Beniers challenge for No. 1.
Jeeze that was absolutely disgusting what he did to drain the other teams PP. I wish he would calm down a bit so he drops to wherever we are drafting.
If we can’t make the playoffs, completing the trifecta by winning the lottery again (and watching fans and pundits lose their freakin minds) would be such an amazingly fun way to end the season. Because that’s the only way we’re likely getting Beniers.
Fans and outside observers have him in that 5-10 range.
I can tell you most NHL teams do not. He is consistently in most top fives, many top threes, and a few top twos.
But, outside of the fits like a glove and fills a need fantasy, I would also encourage fans to check L’Heureux.
I've been starting to keep an eye on L'Heureux and although he's a hulky, big scorer his skating is quite clunky. With that said, he usually keeps pace, so IDK what to think on that fully. Definitely has a weird stride.
It’s definitely not a typical stride, and that’s one of the things that potentially keeps him from being more widely seen as a top tier prospect.
However, I find that his hands are very good, especially in close quarters, he doesn’t get pushed or intimidated off the puck, and his drive for the slot and the net is damn near laser focused. This isn’t a kid looking to fire a laser past a goalie, he knows exactly where he needs to be to score moving forward.
Those are attributes I think could translate very well as a pro. To me, he seems like he has a good grasp on what his game is and what he has to do to make it work as the competition gets more intense.
He’s going to be in a similar boat to some of the Moncton players who have come before him in the sense that he’s not likely to lead an NHL team in scoring, but he has a shot to be a hell of a fun support player to have on your side.
I can agree with that. It definitely doesn't scream speedster but gets to the right points. Like a Lucic or a Hornqvist, in a way. Would you agree with those styles?
He does not have nearly the mean streak that Lucic had. Hornqvist is a good choice. Sort of a modern day Tim Kerr.I can agree with that. It definitely doesn't scream speedster but gets to the right points. Like a Lucic or a Hornqvist, in a way. Would you agree with those styles?

Do you see him continuing on as a C?He's not the bruiser that Lucic is, but I've been impressed by how aggressive his overall game is. When he's on his A game, he's jumping on pucks, darting for rebounds, playing with an edge, occasionally dropping the gloves, and very involved in the play.
At times I've seen a little bit of Brayden Schenn in him as well. He's not the playmaker Schenn is, but there are some similarities at same age.
WHL apparently putting in the framework for a 24 game season...
