there’s going to be a lot of catching up for scouts to do, I the draft boards to be all over the place
Vanderbilt who has Leiter & Rocker has started 6-1 but regular season goes thru May 22
That’s nearly 3 months

my guesstimate is this top 50 list changes at least 20% overall and the top 10 could be significant

Do you think it makes more sense to go the route of signing a guy at below slot value and target a guy that falls?

You’re still taking a risk if you take a guy who’s dead set on going through with his commitment or wants to build their stock. Assume they do their homework on these players though.

Right now my thinking is if they can get any of Rocker, Leiter, or Lawlar, I just draft them and don't look back. Otherwise, I'd look for the below slot option and draft a faller in the 2nd. As @DKH said, the list will change as the year goes on. You do whatever you think gets you the most value. That high 2nd is a major reason they didn't sign any big names this year, so you know they value it.

Nationals' Lester to have thyroid gland removed

....I hope this doesn’t signal that something is wrong

he had lymphoma previously. Dont know about this but its very abnormal to remove the gland unless goiter causing respiratory issues or thyroid cancer.

Former Red Sox ace Jon Lester to have thyroid gland removed - The Boston Globe

Thyroid cancer is mostly treatable . Requires synthetic Thyroid hormone for life. My wife is a survivor.
But balancing the levels is more art than science. At least our experience.

That family has been through absolute hell in the last 13 months. May he rest in peace.

that was my concern, I hope he’s ok and nothing returned

can’t believe it’s been almost 15 years cancer-free for him. I remember the pit in my stomach when he was diagnosed
