OT: 2021 Football Thread - Part II

OBJ? Fans though he was a dope for losing to a kickers net. The real issue came with that boat trip. He and the receivers were no shows for the playoff game the following week. Once Gettleman resigned OBJ, he went on ESPN with somebody going by the name Lil Wayne to ridicule Eli. Gettleman then screwed up the cap by trading OBJ.

As far as Taylor, those were different times and even then the guy was suspended. The 80’s had a lot of issues with teams and snowstorms including the 86 Mets and yes, a future legend who joined the Rangers from the Oilers.

I don't think any singular thing was that egregious (maybe the boat trip). The issue with OBJ was that it was a pattern of stupidity and not a singular mistake. He bought the hype on himself. I'm a Jet fan, but if OBJ was making himself a spectacle and a constant distraction then I'd have dealt him too. Of course, the problem was with Gettleman extending him first.

I sat Cooper for Evans and Thielen. Oh, the pain!
 
Mike M was 100x worse than Idzik as a GM. Idzik was pretty bad but he at least just cleared cap for the team. McCagnan on the other hand, might be the worst football mind in the history of football. I would go as far to say he should be banned from even watching football.

Mike M had a stretch of a few years with a ton of picks and cap space where, if he was even remotely competent, he could have completely turned the fortunes of the franchise around. Instead, he was literally one of the worst-drafting GMs in history and made dumbass signings. He had the opportunity to truly transform us into contenders once again and instead made things worse than they were before. Which for the Jets is really something.

Considering what he's done, do you think he's actually watched any football?

Darnold looks like Darnold. Some decent stuff but mistakes and leaving plays on the field.

He'll be better by default just because he can throw dump offs to McCaffrey.
