I don’t think this has the effect people think it does re Watson. Goff is higher thought of than Darnold or Jones or Tua, but his contract is a disaster.

I don’t like this for the Lions at all. I would rather a first alone this year. Find a way to trade up and get Wilson/Fields.

obv not if they had to package 2 firsts along with him. Goof is terrible

how is the world do not like this for the Lions? They just gained two future #1 picks and keep their own for this year while adding a QB

LA still has some high octane weapons on offense and defense. Even if they hit with Wilson or Fields, they aren't winning a title with them in the next two years. They are trying to win now.

They wouldn't even have the cap savings of a rookie QB because they'd be stuck with Goff's money and the QB controversy that comes with it.

I think the Lions did well, but I also think this was a trade the Rams had to make.

They gave up a 1st to win now, and a 1st to dump Goff.

At first glance you think Goff and 2 1sts's for Stafford? Bad deal. However, when you really break it down, I think it's a good deal for both.

I like it a lot for the Rams. Stafford is good. Much better than Goff

We never know what the value out there was, but the way they were talking about Stafford deals, this is bad to me.

espns last article had 6 or 7 trades. Anywhere from the 8th to 15th this season (Carolina, Denver, SF, NE) plus a 2nd. Colts 1/2/3 was another.

like you said. Rams had to add another first to dump Goff. But neither are this year ans the Rams will probably be good for the next few.

Maybe no one wanted to offer a top 15 pick. But I take a top 15 pick this year if I’m the Lions over the Rams deal any day.

Lions wanted to part ways with Stafford and likely hoped they could land his replacement at #7.

Now the Lions can still land their replacement at #7 or scoreboard watch for each of the years 22/23 b/c they own the Rams #1s’ or use their own. And yet again, now have Goff so there is no hurry as they can play him or part ways for a sizable cap hit after next season.

Amazing deal for the Lions considering they could have just released him b/c they already made it know they were moving on.

I don't know about Barkley + DJ + 1sts for Watson.

The value is good but the Giants are a lot more than DeShaun Watson away from being contenders.

This Watson too the Jets shit just isn't going to happen....sorry it just isn't. Douglas is keeping the picks and IMO he should. Jets are so far away from being good, even a Watson wouldn't help all that much.

Maybe he'd give us 2 more wins a year. I want to continue with the strategy of building thru the draft and I firmly believe that tho as tempting as it may be, Douglas aint giving up 3 #1's and possibly a bit more for Watson as good as he is.

Never trade multiple first round picks for anybody in the NFL. More than any other sport, Football is a total team sport and no one player helps you win games by themselves. It doesn't matter if you get an elite qb and then surround him with shit.

And you surely never ever ever do what the Rams just did. They won't only not win a superbowl in whats left of their window. They will suffer with a long rebuild. You do not miss 7 years in a row without a first round pick and expect to be competitive in the NFL.

I understand not wanting the Jets to do this but the Rams absolutely should have.

Goff sucks. They have a loaded team with a glaring hole at QB. Their window is now.

As long as they don't have massive injuries, those 1sts will be in the bottom half of the draft.

I read some rumors last night that Andrew Luck want's back in to the NFL.

Now there's a QB I wouldn't mind leading my team.

Do what you need to do Joe and see if there is any truth to this cause if there is, you need to seriously explore the possibilities of bringing Luck here to NY.

those rumors are prob clickbait

if I remember the guy opted to exit his career early b'c he didn't want to wind up a cripple.

don't see a change
and don't want any desperation moves.

Draft Sewell
If somebody pays premium for Darnold fine, otherwise we use him this yr and see after that.

The QB is the toughest piece to land. I would do #2 and a pick next year, or I'd trade the Seattle pick and the 2 1st rounders next year. I wouldn't move 3 picks including #2, but that's me.

Not to get too far into it, but if I can move the Seattle pick and the 2 #1's next year then I def do it. I'd include Darnold if need be. I would then trade down from #2 with one of the teams looking for a QB. You then take one of the WR's (or a defensive player and sign Allen Robinson) and hopefully recoup a first next year and possibly more. That way you get your franchise QB whose locked up going into his prime and still have strong draft capital to continue building. The Jets can very quickly start competing with Buffalo for the AFC East and can largely thank Jamal Adams for opening up this possibility. Signing Adams to a meg extension wasn't going to make the Jets contenders.

If I'm not mistaken, he'd still be under contract to Indy. Considering Indy doesn't have a QB, I'd assume he'd return there. I'd be surprised if he came back though... he seemed pretty confident about his decision.

I would do that in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be crazy about overpaying Barkley for his next contract. The juries still out, but idk about that gold jacket Gettleman thought he'd earn. I don't think Jones is ever more than a middling QB. The two firsts wouldn't be likely to be top 5 picks anyway. The NFC East is so bad that they could easily find themselves in the playoffs next season.

Look at it this way. If you gave up 3 1st rounders to get a 25 year old Aaron Rodgers, do you think you would have regretted it for a second looking back? You basically become a perennial playoff team with very good odds of winning a championship or more.

Nah your probably right as Colts probably do have priority if Luck came back. I was just fantasizing for a moment picturing Luck in green and white and it got me in a better mood than I already was in. But yes I know it would never happen.

I like this way of thinking but I don't think there is anyway on gods green earth that the Texans go near a deal with us unless our #2 overall this year is included and is the foundation of any potential trade.

I'm resigned as I was a few weeks ago to still too not getting Watson as it's a very non-Jet thing to occur. If it ends up happening, I'll be the first one to run over to Florham Park and give Joe a big ass hug. It aint happening tho so why even bother to get my hopes up.

Let's just build this sucker the way we are doing it now...thru the draft and hopefully some successful FA signings. Bottom line and I've said this a ton of times and will say it again. No matter what we do and what direction we go in, I have complete faith that we finally got a guy who knows WTF he's doing, is respected all around the league and so "In Joe I Trust" as we are finally on the right track...I'm convinced of that!

Gotta have some action for the game and so the call for me is:

Chiefs -3 for $100 which would win $83
Over 55 for $100 which would win $87

I might be just throwing away $200 but F it, no way on gods green earth can I root for Brady and want him too do well. It's bad enough that we have to watch his pansy ass for the zillionth time in the SB. Not a chance in hell could I root for him to win it again....F him! I'd rather lose 100 or 200 than see Brady happy and have won another SB...F that!....lol

So go Chiefs and hopefully Mahomes has a great day...fingers crossed!...

We must be adamant about using the #2 on Sewell. Lawrence would be the only exception b'c he is the only one I see as close to a guarantee as possible, and I'm still skittish about whoever our QB is if Becton is the only guy we have back there.

I get Watson, but he has ACL or some shit like that wear and tear mileage. Not enuf of a red flag to say don't even think about a deal, but enuf to give pause.

Let Houston choke on him until after the draft and then we can talk about next year's picks or other assets but not Becton and Sewell.

I get QB is an important position, but if Niners are interested in Darnold and would give us McG [McGlinchey?] starting LT like selected 2 yrs ago, like 14OA, something like that, I go there. Can rotate or in a pinch put that guy and Bechton together on RG-RT, get a decent LG to pair w/Sewell and voila, we have an effin line.

That kind of line would help anyone, and we can choose from our QB options for now while growing a guy long term.
